No offline mode

I can't believe it's impossible to play EA games without an internet connection. Don't tell me you can - I've spent the last two hours in this forum finding nothing but people saying the same thing. What an IDIOTIC thing to do, defaulting to requiring an internet connection. Offline mode simply doesn't work. A button that does nothing. Garbage origin and garbage EA.
