I don't know if this is just the beta version (cause of telemetry and stuff) but I want to make sure to give this feedback
There NEEDS to be an option to go offline. That is currently not the case. Many games have offline modes and many people have bad Internet. Please Please Please, I beg you, have an offline mode in the full version.
The EA app now has an offline mode.
Click on the menu symbol (Three strokes top left) > Go offline.
@holger1405You are obviously far more au fait with the intricacies of the overlay, but how EA expect the rest of us mere mortals to know these things is beyond me. None of the regular games I play have a recovery button, they're old, but then again they don't need one - they just work!
Again - icon - double click - logon - single or multi play. What's wrong with that?
As our cousins across the pond say - if it 'aint broke, don't fix it'...

And then when you do, EA Desktop disappears. No UI graphics, no tiles...all you are left with is a grey screen with a warning that you are offline and a text list of the games in your collection. Soooo petty, EA.
FIFA won't run when offline. This is not a bug, this is how they designed the app. If you go offline, the app informs you that it will try to connect online the next time you launch it. Offline mode is for that session only.
This feedback/functionality has yet to be implemented properly for those of us who purchased our games through Steam.
This honestly NEEDS to be resolved. It's completely unfair to be unable to launch a game that doesn't need internet connection for gameplay when Steam is in offline mode, or when you lose internet and try to launch through Steam. Especially when people who buy it through the EA App have this feature, and those of us who bought it on Steam had it with Origin before the forced update.
After May 4th 2023 disaster, once the EA App was back up and running I chose the offline option and now when I launch my game I just get the EA App telling me it can not connect to the server! I have tried all the EA App help options and even uninstalled it and reinstalled it to no avail. It happens with and without mods.
@Goldielocks403Same thing. Pretty stupidly designed that you have to log in online in order to play offline or you get error 201. Pretty difficult to do that WHEN YOU CAN'T GET ONLINE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I can't even launch the application directly from its installation folder because doing so still goes through the EA app (so I'm essentially locked out of accessing content that's already installed on my computer), nor can I launch an offline version of the app to change the necessary setting to enable local play.
What a massive oversight. How could the designers not realize that one of the major reasons people would want to play offline is because they CANNOT go online because of lack of service? If your "solution" requires you to go online in order to enable offline play, then it's not an actual solution. What a bunch of incompetent clowns.
My brother purchased Dead Space 3 from Amazon (sale), because steam was encountering licence problems (crashing when ea starts), while my same PC is working fine!?. The Amazon key is for Origin, is it gonna work, or no??? (NFS Payback used to say 'not available in region')

Same here, more or less.
If I launch the app and log in, I can then go offline (I have to do so in order to play FIFA 16, as it would refuse to start without the latest update if I stay online and I just want to play the vanilla version as I find it plays better), and happily stay offline until I hibernate/turn the PC off.
Once the PC has resumed from hibernation or has fully booted up after being shut down, though, the app says that it cannot connect to the servers so it won't let me do anything.
I'll always have to quit, log in again, and then... Go offline again (this if I want to play FIFA 16, at least).
A bit annoying and time-consuming but at least it works (provided that I have an active connection when I launch the app, at least).
This implies there is internet to connect to and then you CHOOSE to go offline. If there is no internet you still cannot play the game. Previously with Origin if there was no internet it said you are offline but gave the ability to play in offline mode. Now when I need to play I have to wait for my computer to have a good enough connection to allow the EA app to go online, then go into offline mode. Later it then says there is an error and it cannot connect to the internet. As many Sims game frequently need to be restarted, I then have to again wait for a decent connection so I can login to the app again to start playing again. This is NOT an ability to play offline, it is a CHOICE to play offline and many of us don't have a choice with our internet connection.
