I think that Join / invite will never be implemented.

They want you to use overlay so they can later show (shove?) ads through it.

The EA Desktop app is already communicating with google analytics, newrelic, go-mpulse and nr-data, and make no mistake -- your EA account ID is already linked to those advertisers who are probably able to track all your game playing and purchasing habits.

Also you forgot:

7. No ability to disable telemetry and advertising trackers
8. No ability to disable cloud sync per game or globally
9. DRM service needs to run in background for the app to work
10. Still much slower to open and launch games compared to Origin

All the more reason for me to not install it.

They expect me (who's been an Origin user for YEARS, as in, ever since it was first introduced) to suddenly accept a new app that has been FORCED on me and with no way to opt out of it?! Yeah remember this?
EA forced this on you:
HA! In your dreams EA, i will NOT install something that has been FORCED on me and with no way to opt out of it!

Well, then we who play Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition are * out of luck, as the overlay does not work in those titles, and likely never will. Very scummy way of forcing more ads down our throats.
This basic functionality should not be omitted by any circumstance, whether it is for marketing reasons or otherwise. It just shows that EA is incapable of making a good gaming client.

his a million times over. With all the complaints on this EA app being so problematic I don't know why they insist on forcing it right now. They need to work on it another year or two.
