Hey everyone!
So it does indeed stink that we can't gift through the online platform anymore and I hope they fix that soon. However, there IS an alternative rather than gift cards. You can simply buy the digital download code from Amazon and send them the code to get that game on their EA Play app. This will allow you to get the specific game you want and spend the exact amount of money you want. Typically, the same sales are there since it is linked to the EA company. So, for example, the holiday sale right now is identical on the Amazon site. I just purchased the digital download code for Discover University (60% off) and am going to email it to my friend for Christmas. She will then just have to redeem the code on EA Play and she will have Discover University!

I wanted to give a friend a Sims 4 kit! EA gift cards start at €15. The kit costs €4.99. But EA does not provide matching gift cards for €5 or €10 according to their price tag. I'm not willing to pay more for a gift card if the pack does not cost more. I want to be able to buy credit based on the price tag EA places on their products - at least for the available packs and if they are gifts. But that is not possible and there are no options or other alternatives. The option to gift within the EA app still doesn't exist. I thought EA wanted to make money. We can't buy SIM packs and gift them! That's pretty limiting! But luckily not my problem. EA misses the opportunity that people want to pay for it, and EA doesn't bother to provide it. Like me and all the others here, I wanted to pay and I can't do it. Guess I can't gift a kit. Maybe I'll get lucky and find this kit on a reseller platform and they'll sell it - so I'll buy it there. Less income for EA. I'm just stating the facts. I wish you would add the gift option back to the EA APP sooner rather than later. Considering how old this post is and how slow the process seems to be to implement this feature back. I guess it will take EA another year to add this feature back..😞
Digital download codes from Amazon aren't an option, they seem to be only in the USA.
"Note: Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States."I did find a workaround on Amazon for this situation (but have only used it for gifting things that aren't video games). I set up an account on Amazon in the country I wanted to gift from and purchased the item there, and was able to have it sent to whomever I wanted to. Should also work with digital downloads. Hope this helps!
And yes, EA, you REALLY need to get on top of this. People have been asking for this feature for two years now. I'd prioritize anything that would make the company money. That is not a fact as you can still download older versions of Origin that allow you to gift games and those accounts still link to the EA app. This has already been done.
