Hi @weepizzaface and @rafoufoun,
Have you tried re-downloading Battlefield 2042? It might still see the Ultimate Edition on your account instead of the Standard Edition.
A clear cache and re-download could fix this.
I have the same issue.
Preordered the gold edition and cancelled the preorder.
After ordering the standard edition, I'm not able to install it, because EA Desktop still thinks I ordered the gold edition and just interrupts the install with that hiccup error message.
I remember that at the moment when I was between canceling the gold edition and ordering the standard edition, EA Desktop always claimed I preordered the gold edition.
Clearing cache or reinstalling the EA Desktop app doesn't help. It's the same when installing it on a different system, that never had EA Desktop installed before.

I've got a similar problem. Pre-ordered, canceled.
Then because curiosity got the better of me. got a key from a third party reseller and registered it.
Getting the "There was a hiccup" message when trying to download. BF2042 is the only game with problems.

Hey @f0rcefl0w,
As you received the code through a third party, it might not work on the EA app. This is a known issue and the teams have been made aware.
If you download and install the game through Origin it should work for you.
@neryuslu Could you reach out to our support team through EA Help to have this looked into? If there is something going wrong on your account, then we can't help with this through the forums.

Hey @EA_Jason.
Thanks for clarifying. This seems like a confusing oversight to me.
Is the situation going to be fixed soon? It's pretty confusing, most certainly because having both EA Desktop (because Game Pass) and Origin (because of issues like these) installed doesn't always play nice.
