EA App cloud saving or not? Please state in the app whether it is or not
i bought madden 22 today for face of the franchise, and while i am very disappointed by it, and the fact i can't player lock to my created player and have to be the whole team, etc and there are no options settings at all for that mode etc - this is NOT what this post is about.
i noticed when i was about to restart the mode that the game save had a cloud icon on it. so i checked EA app and there are NO settings about cloud saves and save games in it.
i NEVER EVER want to use the cloud for ANYTHING. its a single point of failure. cloud gets whacked by hackers then you lose all your saves, cant play your games unless they can save offline onto your hdd. lose all progress until the cloud is fixed.
also, the internet is NEVER going to be constant. isp connections drop out all the time, from their servers having components die, from some street crew digging trenches for a service cutting underground cables, from dumb thieves stealing from server hubs thinking they can sell the pretty shiny circuit boards as desktop pcs or just as scrap. or just because your isp is trying to be helpful and upgrade your wifi you dont ever use (because i have an ethernet cable because, gamer) makes your router reboot and do an upgrade to imrpove reliability right in the middle of something. guess which of those i had happen a few times now.
or because you are using a beta app. which may or may not be randomly updating itself in the background and in the process losing connection to ea servers for all i know.
this is why i have a pc so i dont ever have too limited space to save games locally.
please ensure the ea app has an option to disable cloud saves and save locally, or at least some placeholder text saying whether the app is sending all save games to the cloud by default until options appear or not. just so we know. then i can choose not to use the beta anymore from certainty. right now im avoiding the beta from now on because it MIGHT be sending my saves someplace i dont want them instead of on my computer. i now worry my Fifa 22 save games won't work from origin because they were automatically made into cloud saves and so effectively dont exist anymore.
i dont ever want to see a cloud icon anywhere on my save games.
and i uninstalled madden 22 because the face of the franchise is not what i hoped, and the cloud icon over the save. luckily it was 75% off so i lost only £13 at least. but theres no point in having a game if it just sends the saves somewhere that may become inaccessible at any time, making the game effectively just wasted hard drive space.
Hey @GuardianD671 To confirm EA App does not currently support cloud saving, you can check out the client's progress and items our team is looking into on the public Trello Board.
However to be clear if you play a game that has an online component like Apex Legends, FUT, etc this progression is saved server-side so make sure your sign into the correct account and you will have your progress when you get back into the game.
hope this helps!
