EA Desktop doesnt have Origin Thin Client

So Origin started pestering me to install the EA Desktop App which I did.

I uninstalled Origin and realised that none of my EA Games in Steam work because it requires Origin for the Origin Thin Client and had to reinstall it.

Is there work being done to migrate this so we can phase out the Origin client?

I cant find anything about this in FAQ's or existing Topics. I dont need 2 EA game launchers...

    Hi @JarskyPlays,

If you want to play your EA games that you purchased through Steam that require Origin to launch, then you will have to use Origin for now.

This feature hasn't been implemented yet in the EA app and that's why it isn't working for you. To answer your question, yes this is something that we are looking into.

    Hi EA,

Old thread now, but has any progress been made for this? The FAQ still says

If I play my EA games on Steam or Epic, do I need to download the EA app?

We will provide guidance directly through Steam about which app (the EA app or Origin) to download to ensure you can access & play your EA games.

@JarskyPlays They should keep it that way, they can't * Steam games so they'll just keep Origin for longer which is great bc it's much superior to EA Desktop.

@tyl0413 It will be a long time before they remove it. They have yet to figure out what there going to do about the games on steam. As all the games on there use Origin. I don't even think there a way for them to remove it. That's a lot of games for them to go through.
  • Just found out that they are gutting origin and battlefield 4 wont launch with origin not installed

Yeah I assume every game on Steam would require an update of the Origin Thin Client to something that is compatible with the EA App or they need to make the EA App accept Origin Thin Client connections for Steam support.

The Origin App is again giving me an informational telling me to switch, so I tried EA App and yeah it doesnt have support for other launchers (i.e Steam).

You need to sort this EA before you grandfather / abandon Origin.
