I'm in the same boat.
Problem:
I do not want to go through EA App on my desktop. I prefer to launch the game (BF 2042) directly from the game app.
eg. I can open COD Modern WF directly from the desktop games desktop app.
Lamen terms answer please with bullets for process steps that do not include reinstall.
- 3 years ago@AirZeppelin are you using a pc?
if so
1, open the EA app on the desktop
2, click my collection
3, find the game you want to add shortcut to desktop and click the
3 dots in the top right corner of the tile
4, select view properties
5, under install location click browse
6. find the .exe of the game you want on the desktop and right click it
7,if on windows 11 click show more options (windows 10 and below) select "send to" then click desktop(create shortcut )
hope that helps- 3 years ago

If you bring up Task Manager (ctrl + alt + del), and then start The Sims, you can find it in the list of processes. Right-click on "The SimsTM 4" and select "Open File Location." That will bring you to "TS4_x64.exe" which you can again right-click on, and then you can hit "Create Shortcut" and drop that onto your desktop; or you can select "Pin To Start," which is what I did, and that worked for me to go directly into loading the game instead of having to meander through the EA app first (at long last). It does still open the EA app, but it shifts into The Sims on its own shortly thereafter without you having to do anything else.

Right click the game cover in Steam > Manage > Add Desktop Shortcut.
If that don't works then there is a problem in Steam, EA app has nothing to do with this.

Firstly... How has this not been addressed yet???
Also, This doesn't work for me.
When I try I get either:
"Origin is not installed, and is required to play your game. Please reinstall Orgin" (in either a generic Windows box or in an old origin styled box)"You'll need a new app to open this origin2 link"
"EA App is not installed, and is required to play your game. Please reinstall EA App"
Given that between old Origin games being installed in \Program Files (x86)\Origin Games and others in \Program Files\EA Games - I'm not surprised there is a disconnect, but fixing shouldn't be this hard...

What game we are talking about?

The location of the game is irrelevant, a shortcut will work from both locations.

What exactly is not working? (What post do you refer too?)
If EA app is installed on your system then there is a mismatch of some sort, probably a registry mismatch, that blocks the link between the EA app and the game.
Does the game launces if you start from EA app?
