When we as users of the app will be able to play games without internet connection? I bought Mass Effect Legendary Edition in Steam to play it on the go and in places without internet, and I was extremely upset that Steam allows offline play, while EA doesn't. When will this be fixed?

First off, this site is garbage as I can’t find anyway to report a problem with this app that none of these threads cover, that is, you can’t even continue to play the game offline after you played it once in offline mode.
discovered this today.
Last night I was able to play without internet, as I was signed in while online, then I go to play this morning, after leaving my computer on all night, and I get an error code with it telling me that I need to go online to sign in.
The game told me that I would be able to keep playing in offline mode when I exited.
Are people forced to keep their games running indefinitely while they do not have internet?? Because that would be garbage.
Please fix this!!For those reading this, Beware! This thread is now over 3 years old, I could not find anyway place to report this, the chat feature seems disabled (at least on mobile), and the only forum I could find to report or ask anything on was on the functionality of the forum??
If you purchase from EA, you should expect to never play your games without an internet connection in any realistic manner. Offline mode is a lie. Too bad for those os us who purchased our games during a time when offline mode was an actual thing that did not require an internet connection to sign in.They should be required to refund those of us who purchased our games under the understanding that we could play our games indefinitely without an internet connection as they removed a key function AFTER we purchased our games, which included that key function. Agreeing to continue playing them should not disregard that, why is there not a class action suit, I played good money for the game and it’s expansions before this change was made and they changed my access to the game after, which should be illegal.

What kind of Bull crap is this ea? I can’t play my games cuz YOUR APP WONT START OFFLINE. I’m seeing replies from literal YEARS ago and still can’t get into mass effect thru steam when my internet is out. I hope justice finds the people making this decision.

"teams are aware" is a nice way of saying "we know " but unfortunately they're managers do not give a single flaming paper bag of dog **bleep** about making it work . just click "ok" to all and give EA rights to your kernel and hard drive and all will be ok .

Idk if anyone else suggested this before me, but check your settings > application and see if you have the automatic updates and the open ea app automatically on startup switched on. I switched them both off and the issue seemingly resolved (for now).

I too am facing this issue at the moment due to Internet outage. I guess I'll connect through my phone internet and then chuck that, cause I ain't got no infinite data.
This is utterly ridiculous.

Probably still the case. No announcement or reply = nothing new to add. Probably.

Hey @pulseIm,
No, the EA app unfortunately doesn't support offline play yet. However, the teams are aware of the feedback regarding this requested feature for the EA app.
Origin does support offline play, however. So if you/your girlfriend owns the game as a standalone copy or via EA Play (Pro), as long as it is not EA Play via Xbox Game Pass, it should be possible to use Origin and make use of offline play. How is this still an issue two years later? Still no way to launch EA app offline despite the teams aware of this feedback in 2022.

Just want to add my voice to this.
There really should be a simple, intuitive way to play purchased games offline. Absolutely for single player games.
I know EA are, or did consider this. Are they still considering, planning implemetation?
Is it going to happen in future?
Is it shelved and not likely to ever happen?
A clear answer from EA, either way, (as of October 2024) would be appreciated, even if the answer is, no, not going happen.
P.S. Previous answers have been posted and are clear and appreciated. Would like an update even if nothing changed. We
players don't know going forward.
I am also baffled at the present state of the EA app. Ran into this issue yet again today.
I don't believe I will be buying from the EA app going forward until this issue is resolved.
The very idea that I "must" have internet to play a game downloaded to my PC is asinine.
