This worked for me just now!
Step 1: Open EA Desktop
Step 2: Look for the Mass effect .exe file
Step 3: Right Click it
Step 4: Click properties
Step 5: Click compatibility tab
Step 6: Change the Windows XP Service Pack to Version 2
Step 7: KILL ALL ALIENS- @I_Am_Demonetized didn't work. Still says I need permissions.
- @holger1405 I got it with EA play through Xbox game pass ultimate.
Go here and download Origin if you don't have it yet.
Install it and look if it recognises your ME installation.
(If not you might have customised the installation path in EA Desktop, then you need to Point Origin to your game directory.)
Try to launch the game from Origin.
- @holger1405 It didn't recognize the game and I couldn't find it when I tried to add it to the game library. What do I do?
- @MangledPhantom I installed game and it worked but only once. Second time i tried to play it asked for admin privileges. I copied my saves and reinstalled mass effect and ea desktop. Game works until I turn it off. It doesn't fix privileges issue but I hope it helps you.
The game should be under "C:\Program Files\EA Games\"
- @holger1405 I finally found the game and added it to Origin, but it said the game needed to be activated when I tried to play it.
Then I am afraid all you can do is to wait for a patch.
Make sure you EA Desktop version is updated on a regular basis.
