Yep, I think they just simply forgot about the ppl that got EA Play throught the XBOX Game Pass.
I wonder how much effort it takes to deploy the beta to the EA Dektop app as well...

Actually I'm downloading it through origin now. I don't know if its working because I have EA Desktop installed as well (but not running at the same time), but I'm pre loading the beta using Origin and I have EA Play through GamePass.
If it helps anyone this is exactly what I did.
Went to the Origin.com WEBSITE and signed into the EA account that I have linked with my Xbox Gamepass account On that page is the 2042 beta with a pre load button, I clicked pre load (in my EA account "purchase history" it now shows BF 2042 beta). I then installed origin, and launched it but only with EA desktop not running. When I went to "My Game Library" the beta was there and it let me start pre loading.
I need to keep EA desktop installed because if I browse games in Origin, when I try to get a EA play game, it pull up the page to sub to EA Play or EA Play pro. But according to EA's FAQ you can have origin and EA desktop installed at the same time no problem you just can't RUN them both at the same time.
- 4 years ago@DinyTickCN That's good to know. On the FAQ page they only mention Origin, Steam and Epic for PC... Which would be pretty bad, considering they lock out a portion of EA Play subs this way.
- 4 years ago@xl0p THere is one FAQ that goes like this:
"Where can I play the Open Beta?
The Battlefield 2042 Open Beta is available to play on PC (via Origin, EA app, Steam, and Epic) and console (PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S). Please note, PlayStation Plus is not needed to participate in the Open Beta, however, if you're playing on Xbox you will need to be an Xbox Live Gold subscriber."
I saw this FAQ a couple of days ago, it is still there. They haven't change it. So I think we will eventually get to play the beta via the EA app. But given that there is no link to download the beta(the webpage should've been auto-updated after the preload opens, so they knew there is no beta download for the EA app), there might be some issues with the EA app to deploy the beta. But I hope they just forgot about the EA app, and it just will be a simple client update for us to play the early access when it starts via the EA app.- 4 years ago@DinyTickCN Yeah, you're right. Down in the FAQ the desktop app is clearly mentioned. Just at the top there is no link for a dekstop app pre-load like there is for Origin, Steam or Epic.
