EA App just won't connect?

Oh, ok. i just assumed everyone is hardwired like me. Ethernet straight to my desktop.
No, I don't have any particular security features that could be making things worse, in addition to this, I know networking really well. This isn't my problem, it's a problem with a below alpha software passing as a completed program. I also tried every other person's suggestion. The app is broken. And I've managed to find some kind of bottleneck or wall that you guys probably would have found if you had done any kind of even rudimentary software testing on it before releasing it.
