Re: Is there a way to force the EA app open in offline mode?

You really should correct this issue. Bought the game through steam which has offline mode and shouldn't even need the EA app to begin with because it's already a secured purchase. Second, I'll complain to the FCC, Congress and send a not to the White House and they usually follow up. There's no reason to block legally purchased content at any time period.

  • I’m just adding this comment to fuel the outrage and hoping that it will be noticed and something be done about it because I have also had this same problem trying to launch Mass Effect Legendary Edition offline and have found that it’s because of the EA app needing to always be online to launch. This is absolutely unacceptable to require this from a game that I own and have paid for.

Want to add my disapproval on this topic too.

There is NO way you can be serious EA. NO way.

Since years people tell you how they'd like to have it. You just give a f and do whatever you want.

    LISTEN to us!

How can your freaking app be forced to be online? This is bs!

When going in offline mode it just "crashes" after some time and tells you to restart the app because it's offline right now. Of course it is! Because I wanted it to be! No other choices as to restart the app and again go into offline mode. Just look at the picture I added. For those who can't read german it says: "Connection is temporary interrupted. You're offline at the moment. Check your internet connection while we try to reconnect you (this could take a moment)." And the button says "Restart App".

    Who developed this garbage?

If you own the game through Steam you should know that there is a way to open (most) games directly in the Steam app by bypassing the developer's launcher. So you can launch via Steam's offline mode instead of being stuck waiting for the EA launcher.

Go on your Steam Library and right click the game you want to open without the launcher.

    Click on properties.

At the bottom of the 'General' tab, beneath 'Launch Options' you can see there is a text box.

    In this box enter: --skip-launcher

You will only need to do this once per game and it can be removed at any time. Enjoy!

(This apparently doesn't work for every game but it has for every one that i've tried it on so far, including the Dragon Age games which are also EA)

This means Spending even MORE Money on Games that I now own 6 Copies of.

    PS1 (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - Original Disc (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - The First Decade (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - Origin EA - Older Account (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - Origin EA - Newer Account (Command & Conquer 1995)
    PC - Steam (Command & Conquer 1995)

I've easily spent over £500 on all of the Command & Conquer Versions and Releases.
  • May it be a cold day before I buy another EA game.  Thunderstorm caused my PC power supply to glitch and need to be reset.  Internet is down hard and no one is going to be out in the continuing storms to work on it.  Meaning I'm unable to start the game I've been playing daily for months.

I can understand requiring an occasional sign in, but I was online yesterday.  This EA launcher is the last straw for me.

I support. In my case, it is not the storm that is to blame, but russian shelling on the infrastructure of my country (I am from Ukraine). Sometimes there is no light for a long time and there is no Internet for even longer. I bought almost all EA games through Steam, but I still have to endure this nonsense and the lack of access to honestly purchased games.

(And the method above with disabling the launcher did not help, I tried it using the example of Dragon Age 2)

  • Online log in stinks for me as well. I've repurchased many legacy games to install on my travel laptop and remastered titles I have owned the originals of for decades. I CAN'T PLAY THE GAMES I BOUGHT WHEN EA SERVERS ARE DOWN, LIKE TODAY.

When travelling there are many areas that don't have a suitable internet connection even on 4G or 5G. And once again - I CAN'T PLAY THE GAMES I'VE PURCHASED IN MANY CASES MULTIPLE TIMES.

I've been playing Sims since 1999, I own hard copies of 2 and 3 as well as a collection of expansion packs that's grown over the years. I spent hundreds of US Dollars on DLC content as well. I've purchased Sims 4, nut this access issue is driving me crazy enough that I won't buy any content for it.

Your move EA, you're screwing with a 30+ year customer and I'm sick and tired of your lack of action. No more purchases until this is fixed.

AND FIX YOUR DAMN SERVERS SO I CAN PLAY THE GAMES I'VE PAID FOR ON MY RARE TIME OFF.
