Re: Slow Download Speeds on EA app

I barely have words for how much the EA app dissapoints me. I have been playing on Origin since I was little, always had fun. Sure, some issues but hey most tech still was new to us all anyway and I messed up myself plenty. Now, I am an experienced adult, and know my way around computers and tech.

I think you, EA, messed up big time in 2 or 3 different parts.

1: rushing an app that did not get issues fixed that were there since first *try out* launch. When you first announced EA-desktop, I decided to take a small look, as I'm often open to new things. It downright sucked, no hard feelings but it is the truth. So I happily went on with Origin. Once it was announced that we desktop gamers (not mac, only us, so there actually was no need to force us..) would be forced to switch over, I gave it another try. It was a tiny bit smoother, but still laggy and overall confusing and frustrating to work with.
You also did not give us an actual "switch-over" date, we just updated Origin and "Oopsies sorry now you HAVE to use EA app", which in intself is an issue.

2: Not giving us any option. Like I mentioned above. We got no choice, given that you still give Origin updates on Mac, this is very very odd. Blame it on coding differences or what you want. But we used the same app for over a decade my friend. And as someone who owns both systems, it really is not that difficult to either keep Origin updated for us too, or force mac users to switch over as well (I strongly recommend the 1st choice here.) especially given how huge of a company you are and how willing people are to help you fix user-friendliness <3

3: Your app is not user friendly. It is also not fast. The only claim that was made about the EA app that lands, just a litle, is the light weight thing, which makes it more annoying to use in my experience.
And I won't even get started on the download issues.
No actually, I am. I have been playing Spore for as long as I can remmeber. Now I finally got the DLC for the Galaxy thing. I entered my code, chose my language option, got it downloaded. And it did not show up in my game no matter what I did. As last resort I decided to un-install Spore, and install in again.

Now it is stuck in "Pending download".

Cleared cache, followed all tips.
You know what the only thing that worked was?
Still having Origin installed, clicking download on EA, closing EA, opening Origin, waiting for it to download on there, closing Origin again as you made it un-usable, and then opening EA again to play.

Best part?
The latter thing happens with ALL my games.
This is a slow, confusing and annoying progress my friend.

I think I will find or start a petition to bring Origin back and let EA be OPIONAL

@CaptreeAlcinaI was expecting that I am not only one who has issues with this new "amazing app". After support agents have simply sent me on these forums without providing any help, I quickly found many confirmations to my early guess.
I can download games via EA app but there is another problem - achievements stopped register in three games completely (they still register on Steam, lol, but not in EA App). And after contacting technical support I realized how broken EA costumer service is. Their agents suggested to write on forums so that technical team can acknowledge how serious issue is to fix it faster. And that's it. All help I was able to get from EA is to write on their forums. And this is company, which, according to Wikipedia, had "Operating income of US$1.13 billion" in 2022. I don't know what else to add here.

@CaptreeAlcina P.S. I can't create a topic in "Bug Reports & Technical Issues" subsection. Pressing "submit" after completing all fields does nothing. So, you can't report a bug because of bug. EA can surprise you even when you think you have seen everything what they can do already.

I also have issues with the always on internet. although in my case, it can download games just fine, but cannot use the same internet to launch a game that doesnt even need internet. Wanted to go back to Mass Effect, but it just says no connection on launching the game.
At the very least, Microsoft should be embarrased to have any games linked to this disappointment.
i have been searching for days, no repair, reinstall, app and game. seems to work. tried origin, forcing it to stay offline, but it still demands upgrade to EA's nonesense.

yeah setting and hep app recovery and clear cache works. from 2mb to 75mb .. cheers
