Re: Slow Download Speeds on EA app

So I have been having a lot of issues with the EA app since it came out. From it crashing to slow download speed, it's becoming really frustrating. Today I wanted to play the Sims, so I oppened the app and first had to wait 10 minutes for the app itself to do some sort of download. After that I spent another 10 minutes restarting the app because it kept saying that the app temporarily lost connection (my internet was working just fine btw.). After managing to get the app running, I had to update the Sims 4. I have waited for an hour and 40 minutes for the update to finish, when it automatically stopped at 97% and restarted the entire update download once again. I have never had this issue with Origin, where I would download an update for a game in minutes. At this point I just loose all of my will to even play the SIms because of all of the wasted time. Does anyone else have similar issues and do you have any advice on how to fix it? Thank you

    Hi there @LanaSimmi 

    Let's give the following steps a try to clear these issues up for you and get your update installed:

    • Open task manager, locate EA Background Service, and end task
    • Clear the cache for the EA app
    • Run the EA app as an administrator 
    • Check for any background applications blocking the EA App
    • Try lowering your User Access Control Settings:
      • Close the EA app
      • Click the Windows button and type "UAC" in the search field
      • In the User Access Control window, click and hold the slide bar —slide it to the lowest setting available
      • Click Okay the bottom of the window
      • Open the EA app client and try starting the download again

    I have a same problem. I followed this steps, but the download button doesnť work.

    @KikiskaFCB 

    Does nothing happen when you press the download button, or are you seeing an error message?

    Thank you for your response. I have followed your steps but it didn't help. I have tried dowloading the update twice since then and failed. I am now giving it a third try and I'll see what will happen.

    For today's update, I made sure to clear the cache prior to download. This caused it to stop at 73% (Wrapping Up), instead of the usual 74%. At which point it takes from an hour and 25 minutes to an hour and 50 minutes to reach 100%. It's been doing this from the beginning when I was forced to use the app. I will congratulate you on it working flawlessly whenever it involves me paying money.
