Reset password on a recognized device Issue

Hello! I have seen a few people post about this, but I haven't found a solution.

My email information and password were found in a data breach (yay) so I wanted to change my password for my EA account. I tried logging in, my password wasn't working, I selected the "forgot password"/"reset password" option, it sent me to the "Reset password on a recognized device" page.

I tried to open sims 4 to do the "go online and prompt will appear in-game to reset your password or verify your identity" method - Sims 4 wont open without the EA app.
I tried launching sims through steam, same thing, it tries to open the EA app. 

I don't play any other EA games.

Interestingly, my other account (which I am currently using to post this) was fine with letting me reset my password through an email link. 

I am so annoyed, and so frustrated. I am really hopeful for a solution, because I will be furious if I lose my nearly 700 hours of sims 4 work.
