So I downloaded the new EA desktop app when EA Play came to gamepass yesterday and I tried downloading NFS Heat. I was surprised to see the download speed was going from 400kb/s to 900kb/s. I checked...
We’re closing this thread as several enhancements to the download experience through the EA app have now been implemented. For detailed information about these updates and tips to optimize your download experience, please check out our announcement and information document.
If you’re still encountering suboptimal download experiences after reviewing the document and following the suggestions, please feel free to create a new thread on the EA app forums, and we’ll gladly look into it further.
Hey @MadK4pper generally issues like this are system or network or even ISP related.
I'm testing here and my speeds are quite fast which would lead me to believe that the issue may be on your network or system.
It's perfectly fine to blame the App but doing so means that you may continue to see the issue.
Also, remember that the EA App is in beta, as such you can run into any number of issues with it.

First I couldn’t even get the app to open. I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall the app - then it was still running two processes at once, which prevents the app from downloading fully. This was after I fully uninstalled it. It took a long time to find where it was downloading hidden files to and delete all copies, so the app would open.
My download speeds are extremely slow. I lowered my user permissions, (as directed by EA) and did try running it as admin. I’ve tried several different things. I’m throwing everything at this and my speeds are approx 60- 70kb. At this rate it’s going to be at least a MONTH before I even have all the packs installed to play ONE game.
You speak as if everyone should know exactly what to do (“run as admin” etc). I am just a typical gamer, who isn’t that tech savvy. It’s a big problem if you expect everyone to know what to do, and go through so much just to make the app work. C’mon there are thirteen year olds playing these games. Then, to suggest things that compromise security is unethical, (as EA is) It’s arrogance to suggest that it’s everyone else and not the app, when THIS MANY PEOPLE have the SAME ISSUES. It’s the app that should accommodate the typical system and Win 10/11
This isn’t viable for the majority of people. If I hadn’t already invested thousands of hours in games and hundreds of dollars, I wouldn’t even bother. This app doesn’t work and it needs to be fixed!! It shouldn’t even be out of beta.
I’ve been working on this for days. Like it’s my job. If anyone has a solution I would be open to hearing about it.
None of the fixes in ANY of the threads about EA Play / Origin downloads being slow helped me. BUT!!!!! when I had a slow download for a different game I googled it and it fixed my EA Play download speed as well. All I had to do was:
1. Enter the following line in cmd, make sure to launch it as admin: netsh interface tcp show global
2. If it says disabled, enter: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
3. After the download is done, make SURE to set it back to disabled, so enter in cmd again: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
I hope enough people see this still looking for a fix and that it helps them. I attached screenshots for comparison.
@naughty-n0a I agree with you EA APP is pure trash and DL speed never goes beyond 50kb but on Origins DL speed is not an issue, it just shows how poorly EA APP had been made with no definite testing and not to mention the moderators here are only good at copy pasta resolution that didn't really worked *SMH* instead random people will look for a solution to get the issue fixed which is totally embarrassing a big company but with barebone management and support.
To be honest releasing EA APP was a waste of time they should have just kept Origins but no, they force people to switch to EA APP and suffer with issues and DL speed is the worst I've seen.
