Unable to redeem games with Vanilla Gift Card

Question

The title says it all. I was given a vanilla gift card for Valentine's Day, to buy games. I figured I could use up the money on the card and split the payment with another card on file to purchase multiple games.

Unfortunately, I am unable to link the card to my account, so I tried looking for an online EA gift card purchase screen so I can use the gift card to buy that, but again, no luck.

Is this gift card essentially useless when it comes to EA?

What is a Vanilla Gift Card? Is it a prepaid, one-time-use debit card? If so, these cannot be used as a payment method for purchases on the EA app.

A vanilla gift card is a type of gift card you can buy. It is linked to Visa, but can't be reloaded, or used at an atm.&nbsp;
