I understand that it’s fairly new, but what does the link between the two have to do with anything if all of the games are being launched and played through EA?
There must be some form of licensing between the Desktop app and the Xbox game pass.
If this license is not properly integrated it could be the problem.
I saw it happened before with Mass Effect 3, but in the end this is nothing but speculation.

The Game Pass integration is new, there's no reason why integrating that in Origin wouldn't result in bugs too.
Since EA Desktop is going to replace Origin it's rather silly wasting developer time on the Game Pass integration there too. Investing in getting it to work well on EA Desktop will be money spent on something that is going to be used for a long time.

Regardless of whether or not that is the case, licensing should not perfect the performance of games.
- 4 years ago@holger1405 The EA Play Game Pass integration was delayed for 3 months, there is absolutely no acceptable excuse for still having issues that makes some games literally unplayable. Hell, even without a delay it's not acceptable to have an utterly terrible client(EA Desktop app, shouldn't even exist, Origin was fine) and a service that does not work for some users.

Problems with such integration are inevitable. In regards to Origin, I am a member of this board for 9 years, and I can tell you, out of experience, that Origin was not that fine for many users. 😉
Imho this new client was long needed.
Now porting a client with a user base of +100 million and an almost infinite number of different hardware and software configurations and new features, like Game Pass integration, is complicated, to say the least.
- IKobi_Blade4 years agoRising Traveler@holger1405 Origin is still not fine, but EA managed to make EA Desktop so much worse, we better off using Origin as is.
They removed the already limited features and options we had on Origin, there is simply no reason to use EA Desktop.
The fact it has been months and EA has barely added anything the community asked, clearly shows how much EA doesn't listen to the costumers whasoever (which was also a problem with Origin).
It is so bad, that EA Desktop is not even able to show my full library of games. - holger14054 years agoHero+
It is a Beta.
Most if not all this features will be added by the time EA Desktop is a release candidate.
I would at least wait until then to complain.
- 4 years ago@Carbonic The issue isn’t Xbox Game Pass being buggy. The issue is that literally any game you play on EA desktop is buggy, regardless if it’s played through Game Pass. When I first tried EA Desktop, games that I previously owned and didn’t use through game pass were still full of bugs when launched through EA Desktop.

It's been a while since this was posted and EA desktop is still trash. Throw out an incomplete software and call it a beta I don't care, but I should not be forced to download and use this launcher that doesn't work. I only want to play 1 game and it won't launch the game. Says it's an error on EA's end. I've spent hours trying to fix it already only to conclude that EA never answers about this particular problem, I've seen what their answers are and it's either you can buy the subscription on origin or deal with it since it's a beta. Good customer service by the way... I've seen multiple forum and reddit posts with the same issue. If EA play didn't come with game pass I would never pay for this.

idk why they can't just use origin which works fine there are so many features missing and so many bugs i cant even move my game files from on drive to another i had to download complete game again on different drive and there is no cloud saves so all of my progress is gone if i want to play using this app then i have to start fresh
finish your apps and games before launching idk who thinks its a good idea to launch unfinished products
please just let us play games on any launcher we want whether we bought ea play on steam, gamepass or origin
