Hey folks, thanks for taking the time to write this up. The detail really helps.
What you’re describing is something we do see from time to time, and it’s usually tied to account state or linking, not anything you’ve done wrong with the EA app or Cross-Play settings.
Here are the main things to double-check, in order of likelihood:
The PlayStation player needs to:
- Launch Skate. at least once on PS
- Complete the first-time setup (EULA, intro flow)
- Reach the in-game social menu
Until that happens, the account may not appear in searches on other platforms.
On the PlayStation side, have your friend log in at myaccount.ea.com and check Connections:
- The correct PSN ID should be linked
- It should be linked to the EA account/EA ID you’re searching for
If the PSN is linked to a different EA account (even an old one), friend searches won’t work.
Even with Cross-Play enabled in Skate., system-level settings still matter:
- PlayStation privacy settings should allow being found in search
- EA Account privacy should allow friend requests
- Child/teen accounts can have restrictions that prevent cross-platform discovery
The most reliable way to add friends in Skate. is by exact EA ID:
- Case-sensitive
- No extra spaces
- Make sure it’s the current EA ID (not an old or display name)
Platform IDs and emails don’t always return results.
If the PlayStation account was just created or just launched Skate. for the first time, it can take a short while for everything to sync.
- You don’t need to purchase anything to use the EA app on PC -- downloading it for free is correct.
- Buying EA Play again or reinstalling the EA app won’t affect friend visibility.
If you’ve confirmed all of the above and the accounts still can’t find each other after some time, that points to a backend issue rather than a setup problem. At that point, contacting EA Help with both EA IDs and platform details is the right next step.
Appreciate everyone comparing notes here -- and feel free to update the thread if one of these steps resolves it.
