Re: Can't install/reinstall EA Desktop

Same here, it's ridiculous tha EA would release something without an actual uninstaller.

So so annoying, I was in the middle of playing Burnout Paradise as well. Guess I'll have to wait until they sort this out.

Summarize your bug When I try to start the EA Desktop installer nothing happens.

What happens when the bug occurs? The app runs in the background but nothing happens. I tried to restart my computer, reinstall the installer, run it as administrator but it didn't fix the problem.
What do you expect to see? being able to start the installer properly

Summarize your bug I had to manually uninstall EA Desktop due to some technical reasons, and when I attempt to reinstall, it says EA Desktop is already installed. I have restarted my computer, went through the cache and deleted it, used Process Explorer to try to find any remnants of EA Desktop and have come up short. Does anyone have any ideas at all on how to fix this problem?
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I uninstalled EA Desktop using 3rd party programs.
What happens when the bug occurs? The installer says EA Desktop is still installed, yet there are no traces of the program.
What do you expect to see? I would like to atleast get some guidance on how to fix this issue.

I just need some help on fixing this. 

I had the app installed and it stopped working out of nowhere, so I tried to uninstall it when I realized that I cant do it because it wont have any way to do it. Okay, after deleting every folder manually I try to install the app again to my surprise that I cant do it, because it says that its already installed. No matter what you do you cant do anything about it, so Im really here just to ask WHY THE * WOULD YOU FORCE GAME PASS PC PLAYERS TO INSTALL YOUR DEEP * APP THAT CANT EVEN PERFORM THE MOST BASIC THINGS. Manual registry editing is generally not advised, only do so if you have backed up your registry first or are willing to reinstall Windows if you mess up your registry.

I have the same issue. EA support was very helpful but we didnt resolve anything. We tried these steps in order:

- Removing EA Desktop from Control Panel. 

- Clearing Platform Cache and restart.

- Clean Boot

- Creating new Admin account

- Tweaking in Command Prompt (different ipconfig commands such as flushdns, registordns, release, renew and netsh winsock reset) and restart.

- Creating a new folder in program files labeled "Electronic Arts" and moving the installer there and running as administrator.

- Lowering User Account Control.

- Deleting EA Desktop registry files and restart.

It's dissapointing that in 2021, a huge gaming company like EA releases an unstable application that doesn't even have an uninstall option. Yes i'm aware its in Beta, but why is there such a rush? Why is it so hard to decide that maybe the program needs to be ready for consumers before it's launched? I feel for the poor EA Support who needs to deal with us all and getting sh*t from us 24/7.

I tried to download Crysis but it got stuck, i restarted my pc and tried again it was still stuck so i thought re-installing the app would be the solution. I removed from Console Panel and tried to reinstall but it said "EA Desktop is already installed". So i straightly came to forums and tried some solutions so now whenever i launch the app through the "already installed" screen, it opens my downloads folder. I'm clueless rn. 

@GODJonez I've tried removing every trace of EA Desktop from my registry as well and now, when I open my Xbox App (I recieved EA Play through Xbox Game Pass), I get the error

"eaconnect.microsoft://launch?version=1.0&port=4700 Application not found" Which I'm assuming is because I flushed EA Desktop from my system. However I have tried several different ways of getting rid of this error and it still persists. 

i made the same mistake then i had the blank screen on xbox app. I uninstalled, reinstalled then it got frozen on "Install" screen. So i had the use Powershell to fix it. EA... I don't know man. Maybe they should just add their games to xbox or steam directly so we wouldn't get annoyed more and more to the corporation. 

No solution (at least that Im aware of), it seems the app got an update and crashes everytime. I did the same than you and now we cant do anything, simply wait until they are able to do a functional app

Okay, resetting my PC seemed to fix the issue of the installer not wanting to reinstall. However, when I go to download a game, it just constantly loads forever. I'm running out of ideas on this one 

Why do they even release something that simply doesn't work. There is literally not a single good thing about this, I know it's in beta, but how does it even have problems like this. 
The whole reason I wanted to remove it in the first place, is because it just kept crashing every time I opened it.

After cleaning registry i finally able to to run installer without it telling me that EA Desktop is already installed, BUT - after downloading some files its just gives me an error (without any explanation what's wrong), so installation cancelled =(

I was having this same issue and tried everything, AMD nothing worked. Finally someone on Reddit replied to one of my comments who had the same issue with a standalone installer. This finally worked and was able to get it installed.

C:Program data, Then I searched for “EAdesktop” (no spaces) There’s a a .Msi program there, that if you launch will give you 3 options, one of which is “remove” I clicked that and then it removed everything and then I reinstalled and it worked immediately.

here's how I managed to uninstall and reinstall......... First  I run take ownership mod on the EA folder........then I run a program called 10bit uninstaler......after this I ran take ownership on the files that remained in the EA folder and deleted it........then I used reg edit to find all keys attached to EA and deleted them.......... then I used the link bkrieger posted  and it's almost all working  only problem I now have is I can not install Crysis 3  keeps telling me there is a error to restart pc 

All other games are fine
