The solution that worked for me:

I had the same issue, no matter what, the game failed to launch (Battlefield Bad Company 2), but I found another solution that worked in my case.

I first tried reinstalling the EA App, but it did nothing, still got the error.

What actually worked was running the game as an admin from its desktop shortcut (right click the game icon on desktop and 'Run as administrator') instead of trying to launch it from within the EA App. (but with the app running in the background/taskbar).

Everything else failed.. but found my fix after 4 reinstalls.
Delete directory C:/ProgramData/EA Desktop
Restart.. and everything works!

This worked for me. I found the executable in the install folder and ran as administrator.
