Update 14 April, 2023
The teams have checked the logs and it appears that in many cases the "You Don't Have Access" error in EA app is being caused by clobbered installs of the games, especially via Steam.
The recommended troubleshooting steps are to follow these steps in the order presented:
- Perform an EA app recovery in EA app (open EA app menu (top left) --> Help --> EA app recovery),
- Perform a repair in Steam (right-click on the game in Steam --> Properties --> Local files --> Verify integrity of game files),
- Launch the game from Steam.
Please let us know how it goes.
Hi everyone,
We have received another update from the teams regarding this issue.
It looks like some of you might still be experiencing an issue with the EA app because your EA app is not fully up-to-date. No worries, we've got you covered!
To fix this, we kindly ask that you ensure your EA app is fully up-to-date. The latest version, which has all the fixes regarding this issue, is 12.146.0.5403 (or higher). Normally, your app should update automatically, but it can take a little time (around 24-72 hours) after a release. If you'd like to check manually, simply open the "EA Updater" program by typing it in your Windows Search bar. It'll check for you and install the update if needed!
Also, our teams have found that some of you might still be getting an error because you're launching the game from a desktop shortcut instead of Steam or Epic. Just a friendly reminder to please only launch EA games purchased through Steam or Epic via those platforms. This ensures that your account is properly synchronized and that you have the correct entitlements.
Lastly, double-check that you're logged into the EA app with the right EA account and logged into Steam/Epic with the right account too. You can only link one account from each platform to your EA account, so make sure everything is in order.
To summarise:
- Please make sure that your EA app is fully up-to-date,
- Make sure that you launch EA games purchased through Steam or Epic via those platforms (this means not via a desktop shortcut, or the EA app itself),
- Check if your Anti-Virus is not blocking the EA app & its services, Steam/Epic, or the games from working as intended,
- Make exclusion for those programs or temporarily disable your Anti-Virus to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check if you're using the correct EA account and Steam/Epic account.
Note:
If you're still experiencing this specific issue after all this, please take a look at this message and provide the requested details.
Thank you!
@EA_Leeuw Just updated to latest version 12.146.0.5405 still facing same issue. ;You don't have access' and other games getting stuck in preparing while downloading. I purchased games through origin not any other external source.

Hey @624p6gdcdi7o,
This thread is only for EA games that have been purchased via either Steam or Epic, not EA games purchased via our own launchers.
To try to help you either way, I've looked up your account (where you're writing this post with), which is something we normally don't do via the forums, and I can tell you that FIFA 23 is not registered on this EA account. This most likely means that you're using the incorrect EA account and that you're therefore get this error.
To get assistance with this, please get in touch with the Live Support team via https://help.ea.com/contact-us.
Good luck. - @EA_Leeuw Hello, I've sent you more details in DM please check.
EA are lying yet again. Issue is NOT resolved, please remove the status that this is marked as resolved because it is NOT fixed.
I am STILL after 15 MONTHS!!!! getting "Your game failed to launch, an error on our end caused your launch to fail. try again a littler later."
My EA App is on v12.148.0-5404-d45fbaffc (66101-3ff32357af)
I am NOT running the games via shortcut, I do not use Epic and can not run through EA App, I ONLY use Steam.I do NOT have more than 1 account.
You are repeatedly lying to us hoping we will give up and go away. GET a Developer on to these forums and talk to us. Yet again I am going to offer a remote access session with a Developer and they can SEE the issue first hand, they can also run tests and obtain logs. Your refusal to accept that is very telling of where you and EA stand on this issue.

Hey @Player_lijpv511,
Please see the title of this thread. This thread is about a "You Don't Have Access" error in the EA app for games that have been purchased via either Steam or Epic, not a "Your game failed to launch" error. If you're experiencing an issue with the EA app that is something different than where this thread is about, please create a new thread for this or post a comment in one of the already existing threads.
Thank you. - Aboughalyz3 years agoSeasoned Novice
Hello @EA_Leeuw,
Both steam and EA app are up to date, Fifa is up to date, I start the game through Steam, not a shortcut, and I only have 1 account on steam and EA, and I've been playing normally for 4 months before the error popped up. The game still brings up the "you don't have access" error whenever I start it.
Please find a solution, It's been waaaay too long.Error ID: 5621288f-7d80-4b99-a752-4e7be8677ea3

Hey @Aboughalyz,
Could it be that you previously claimed FIFA 23 via the EA app/Origin itself, via an EA Play membership? And that the EA Play membership expired, and you later purchased the game via Steam, and after that, you got the "You Don't Have Access" error in the EA app when launching the game via Steam? - Aboughalyz3 years agoSeasoned Novice
@EA_Leeuw
I bought Fifa through steam in September, then got EA Play membership and bought the ultimate edition version through EA App for the extras that was in November. The game was working fine even when I unsubscribed to EA Play. - EA_Leeuw3 years ago

@Aboughalyz, so you say that you've bought FIFA 23 standalone through Steam in September of 2022 (I assume that this was the Standard Edition), later also bought EA Play for EA app and bought FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition standalone via the EA app, your EA Play for EA app membership expired, and the game worked fine. However, you got this error later? Correct?
So basically you own multiple editions of FIFA 23 standalone, via Steam and via the EA app, correct? - Aboughalyz3 years agoSeasoned Novice
@EA_Leeuw Exactly yes, I own the game on both platforms but originally from Steam

@Aboughalyz @Lvcidity, alright. If you both own multiple versions of the same product standalone, via EA app and Steam, it's also very common that you're running into this issue if you have both versions of the same product installed, but via multiple launchers.
Our suggestion is to try the following:
- Uninstall all same product installations from your PC, which for @Aboughalyz in this case is FIFA 23 (especially the ones installed through Origin or the EA app),
- Reboot the PC,
- Install & launch the game through Steam (or Epic),
- It's important that the games bought from Steam/Epic are installed & launched through Steam/Epic.
If that didn't work, please provide another example report as requested here.
Thank you.
Jesus i cant believe this is still an ISSUE, i had to create a whole new ea account to get access to my paid for games, EA is a joke
- @Player_lijpv511 have you tried to read back a bit and find that post with detailed explaination of which file you want to delete and "Verify game files" on launcher of your purchase? it helped me actually with 2042 from Steam (got it from ea-play on Steam)
- @KoalaCommando244 there was a workaround posted somewhere around pages 57-58 on which file you need to delete and then verify your game files on platform of your purchase(like Steam/epic), you tried it?

Hi @EA_Leeuw,
I uninstalled the game and redownloaded it from Steam, restarted my pc, and still gave me the same error " you don't have access to this game". I even tried deleting the x64 file that people suggest and repair through steam and still, nothing changed.EA app Error ID:
