Re: EA ap Background Service keeps running while EA app is stopped

I found a great way of fixing this:

Uninstall EA Desktop.

It is not like there are any games on EA that are worth playing now. Literally all the upcoming games are *yawn* sports titles.

Perhaps if they fixed the performance of Jedi Survivor? Actually made the Battlefield game the fans want and not some trend following rubbish that some upcoming marketing exec is betting his career on?

We have been patient for a fix. I will monitor this occassionally and consider a reinstall if EA think again about their shady desktop app practices.

Uninstalling right now.

I'm with you on that solution. That's exactly what I've been doing since they introduced this app. I install it every few months to check if this bs is still happening and literally moments later uninstall it from my system. I don't care what explanation community mods are told to give us - there is no reason for such behavior in a store/game center app. As long as this will be the way EA app operates I simply won't be playing any of related games. I'd rather give up on games I own than have this kind of behaviour in my system.

Uninstalling isnt an option for me because sims 4 requires the app to start.

Ive said it before, other apps are perfectly capable of starting the background service with the app and closing it with the app. Like the battle.net app.

Because when you buy DLCs they are usually locked to the app, steam or console. They arent universal.

Same problem here! Even with automatic updates turned off from the EA App.

    If I can't turn it off, it's not software, it's a virus.

Fortunately, on Mac, if I force quit it from the activity monitor, it does quit and stay quit. I just have to remember to do that every time I start my computer or close my game.

I am seconding this. My computer lasts half as long as it used to, and that change happened the MOMENT I switched from Origin to the EA App. I am taking this issue to TikTok, Twitch, and other social media platforms that the gaming community is prevalent on in order to spread awareness and I urge others to as well. At this point, that seems the best way to get this morally bankrupt company to listen. EA is rapidly becoming a malignant company and I am disgusted and alarmed by their unwillingness to address this issue in a straightforward manner.
