No, unfortunately, the Steam integration is not available yet for the EA Desktop app and will require Origin. The EA Desktop app and Origin can indeed not run simultaneously. However, fully closing either Origin or the EA Desktop app (kill all processes via Task Manager etc. including background services) should allow the two programs to boot separately.
