Just purchased a new gaming desktop PC, downloaded EA App and started to download all my sims games, downloaded sims 4 fine, then with all the rest some were ok but a lot will stop at 14% and state download error? 

I was trying to download the sims again, but some of the packs will not download no matter how many times I clear the cache, uninstall and reinstall the app, or restart my computer. I don't know why this is happening. I would like to play the game with all the packs I own. They just get stuck at 14% and I get the error message that says there was a problem with the download.

Summarize your bug Random DLCs and other miscellaneous games in the library will not install whatsoever.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? By attempting a download in the EA App of the desired app/DLC.
What happens when the bug occurs? The app will attempt a download and it will say "Preparing" at 14% before it will eventually fail the download and stop installing. A "Download error" will be displayed beneath the installation progress. On startup, a popup will display “Something went wrong with your download".
What do you expect to see? To be able to download the desired packs/games.

For the record - before anyone comments "have you tried this", I've tried the following:

• restarting the app
• uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app
• uninstalling and reinstalling the Sims 4 itself
• opening the Sims and closing the Sims
• refreshing the app's cache
• restarting the PC
• opening and closing the EA app
• cancelling the installation - it does nothing and half the time it gets stuck on cancelling the installation
• repairing the Sims 4 (it just lead to failing to reinstall/repair some of the DLCs I already downloaded)
• deleting all of my mod files
• ensuring I have enough space for the installation - I have plenty
• changing the download rate - does not work

I was having problems installing Growing Together yesterday, and for some reason it suddenly decided to start downloading at the end of the day after repeatedly failing to install several times throughout the entire day. It used to be just the one pack - now it's for all of my games and packs. As far as I can tell for other EA app users, they're having trouble downloading games outside of the Sims as well.

This is clearly a problem with the downloading servers itself and we would appreciate an investigation into this issue. This has been beyond frustrating.

Ive been trying to get SimCity for hours now and every time i try and dowload it, it stops at 14% and gives me a download error. Ive tried the app recovery thing, ive tried uninstalling ea and reinstalling. Nothing seems to be working

Downloading battlefront 2 on my laptop as I want to get back into it but it will prepare to download then get stuck at 14% of preparation then come up with a “download error” message.

I have tried:
1) running EA app as Admin
2) clearing EA app cache
3) reinstalling EA app
4) taking down my entire Firewall, then repeating 1-3
5) restarting Laptop multiple times

I bought It takes two and redeemed the code through ea app, but before that i already had the game through steam. I refunded it on steam because of it overpriced, and bought it from EA much cheaper. The game worked one day, but second it wouldnt launch. that because it was searching for the game in steam directory instead of where ea app installed the game, and it was working, yesterday. I did not cause this change of directory.

To fix this issue, I uninstalled the game (not present on my pc in any state anywhere) and tried to download the game through ea app again, just like yesterday. but today the downloading always stops at "Preparing 14%" then i receive an error. I tried restoring the app, changing the directory, neither worked.

How can I install the game?

I'm having an issue where for some reason the game is constantly saying "Download Error" and all the Packs get stuck at around 14% download. Sometimes some of them actually manage to download but most of the time it gets stuck and I can't do anything to help it. This is regarding all of the packs. The one that completely refuses to download is Get Famous.

Not only that but the main game also said "Download Error" but it seams like it downloaded just fine?

This whole issue is really confusing and I can't seam to find any form of help online.

I've tried all of the solutions that I can think of and that I've found.

Remove %temp% files.

Clear Cache

Restart PC

Reinstall game (more then 5 times)

Move installation folder and going back to the default one.

If anyone knows how to resolve this issue it would be super nice to get some assistance.

When trying to download battlefront 2 it downloads to 14% and I get a download error. Every time I cancel download and redownload it goes back to 14% error. I've cleared cache 5 times and uninstalled the app 3 times and it still goes back to 14% download error. This app is pathetic and should of never switched from origin.

Apologies if this isn't the right board to post this, but this site is poorly designed and difficult to navigate. Anyway. I'm trying to download the Sims 4 Simtimates Kit, and it repeatedly gets stuck at 14% and tells me there's a download error. I've cleared my cache and rebooted the EA App several times over. Before this, I downloaded 3 other kits today with no issues. Being unable to download 63MB dlc is just a little bit ridiculous.

I'm having the exact same problem, I was so excited to play and now dlc like snowy escapes and parenthood won't download past 14%. I wonder if it's a server issue?

Merging threads to keep things neat and clean and get the steps that have worked out to more players.

I have been trying to install the sims 4 on my pc but everything I try to install the game, the download is stuck at 14% and this pop up keeps showing up. I even cleared my cache and it still isn't allowing me to install the game.

I have the same issue with the 14% download error. Have tried everything, hope EA releases a fix soon....

@andrano @BecciL2011 Hello! EA is going to get the problem fixed, but in the meantime, the solution outlined here has worked for many players as a temporary workaround.

So far, it's been tested and confirmed to work for:

• Mirror's Edge
• Mirror's Edge Catalyst
• Dead Space
• Need For Speed Rivals
• Star Wars Battlefront II
• And maybe The Sims 4... one person got it working, but two other people insist it doesn't work

Please come back here and let me know if you can't get it to work. I'll try to help you if you show me a screenshot of the directory with the dummy file you created. Also, please let me know if you're trying to download the game from scratch vs. downloading a required update.

Just for clarification on what I've got atm. (I have tried TS4.exe as well but neither work - Although my regular bin file does have the TS4_x64.exe version).

I have this problem with the game update, looks exactly the same - stops at 14% . 

@ijanssen @sms7one3 From Ijanssen's reply with the steps above, my Sims 4 is currently repairing and has an estimated time (which is farther than I've gotten with any of the other previous attempts, thank you.)

As for what happens when I open the EA app normally: The Sims 4 is installed but requires an update (Right now it says repairing, however).

@AwesomeSansyMonI have not yet done Ijanssen's recommendation, but repairs have started downloading on the EA app. Looks like maybe they are fixing? I've ogtten all repairs downloaded except cottage living

@andrano You might be right, as I've tried this method before and it initially didn't work. But then again, you know what computers are like sometimes, as well as servers and software LOL

@Ashurek96 for ME Andromeda it worked for me as well, atm only installed but created a Mass Effect Andromeda folder and in there a MassEffectAndromeda.exe file via txt file format.
So the folder is: EA Games\Mass Effect Andromeda and in there I made the MassEffectAndromeda.exe and MEA is installed 

Additionally, it appears to be an issue for games that were previously installed. I replaced an SSD which had several EA games on it, uninstalled everything, formatted and removed the old one and installed / set up the new one.

Every game that was on the old drive has the 14% download error, any game that I didn't have installed at that time, downloads / installs fine.

But to do some further testing, I installed something I didn't have before, ran it for 5 minutes, uninstalled it.

Cleared the app cache and tried to download the game again, guess what, 14% download error.

Repeated it with another game, exact same error.

I still have ME legendary installed on another drive and when I try to start it manually, I'm told by the EA app "You don't have access" (I have tried copying the entire 110GB into my EA install folder and doesn't acknowledge it being there either).

Absolutely none of the games that were previously installed will download, anything that wasn't previously installed on this PC (at least in the last year) downloads and installs just fine.

@Ashurek96 that is really strange as I have literally build a new PC the SSD's are brand new and on both drives I had the 14% error so it's quite interesting to be honest 🤔

And faking the exe file didn't work for you?

@ijanssenIt worked for Dead Space (2023) but not for ME Leg or Andromeda, at least not yet, its currently downloading FFXV and will try again later.
Games I previously had installed were Dead Space(original 1,2,3), CnC Remastered, Crysis Remastered, Dead Space (2023), ME Leg and Andromeda and Titanfall 2, so far I've only been able to get Dead Space to download.
Other games that weren't installed, but downloaded just fine Jedi Fallen Order, Wild Hearts, Star Wars BF2.
I downloaded Elex, Dragon Age Inq and NFS Heat to test, uninstalled and they then failed to download again.

I know you said you built a new pc, but were these games installed on your old one??
