@Tmpst I guess Battlefield 1 Trial is something that doesn't exist anymore ? No doubt you tried to call EA Assistance, can't tell how you're supposed to fix this on your own, sorry. 🤐

Since this issue started to really annoy me today, I went ahead and spied a bit on what the EA Desktop app is doing.

Turns out, it seems to try to read a license file, "1026023_oa.dlf", which I assume is associated with the BF1 Trial. It was missing on my system, therefore the app constantly tried to execute bf1Trial.exe to verify the license.

Luckily, I found said file in an old backup of mine. I copied it to the expected position and the nagging stopped – at least for now.

I'm considering this a workaround, not a solution, but this is really something that should be looked into. One shouldn't be forced to have support remove account entitlements (and potentially screw things up), just because you played a trial version years ago. This is just disappointing.

Yeah same exact situation for me unfortunately. I do not have the file that @Tmpst mentioned earlier or at least if I do I cannot find it located anywhere on my PC. A very frustration situation altogether given that I only use the EA App because I have to with Game Pass

Reinstalling didn't help for me. And sorry for not answering earlier, I didn't get notifications.

The license files in question are located in C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License but I'd assume they're user-specific, so there wouldn't be any use if I'd just copy my file.

Other than that, the issues you're both describing are the very same I've had, constant popups, game itself starting when renaming the file.

As an alternative, temporary workaround, one could probably replace BF1Trial.exe with a dummy executable that does nothing, but the launcher would still run it over and over again.

I think the launcher simply shouldn't even try to activate the license, if the user isn't trying to actually launch the game (or trial in this case).

Nope, you'd have to contact support about it. Should be straightforward about it, especially if you own the full game, since this way it you couldn't abuse readding the trial.

So after going six ways to Sunday with support chat and EA Help on Twitter, with no help other then the usual troubleshooting steps that do nothing to fix the issue, I patched the issue myself since I didn't have the license file available to put in the license folder.

Basically I renamed bf1Trial.exe to bf1Trial.exe.bak, then using fsutil created a 20kb dummy .exe file named bf1Trial.exe.  Placed that into Battlefield 1 install folder, and no more popups and no auto loading Battlefield 1 (something others have said happened to them when they renamed bf1Trial.exe).

It does complain in the logs with a couple lines like this: Failed to launch game reactivation: [1026023_oa], but I'd rather have that in the logs occasionally then the constant activation popups.

Really the EA App needs to be fixed to either not try to activate trial versions of games we already own and/or not install the trial version of the .exe when installing games that we own.

For those wanting to know exactly how to do what ChronoSquirrel described here, here's the instructions.

1. Open up Terminal (Command Prompt) in your game's folder. I'll be using my issue game (BattleFront 2) as an example.
2. Type: "cd C:\Program Files\EA Games\STAR WARS Battlefront II" into command prompt to get to your game's folder. Obviously, the last part of that will be different if you're having issues with a different game.
3. Get the file size for that trial exe by using the dir command, like this: "dir starwarsbattlefrontii_trial.exe". That command told me that the starwarsbattlefrontii_trial.exe is 283,155,264 bytes
4. Rename "starwarsbattlefrontii_trial.exe" to "starwarsbattlefrontii_trial.exe.bak" (or you could probably just delete it altogether)
5. You can now create the replacement dummy file by typing this command: "fsutil file createnew starwarsbattlefrontii_trial.exe 283155264"

This probably isn't for the computer illiterate out there, but I can confirm that for me, it also worked, and it didn't cause the game to launch every time that the EA launcher is opened (this is what happens if you simply rename the trial file with a bak extension and leave it at that).

I followed the steps; EA Desktop starts without Activation spam and Battlefield 1 starts without file corruption errors (that occur if you just rename or delete bf1Trial.exe).

I ran the EA Updater, but unfortunately it says that the EA App is up to date and the error persists.

If you're still experiencing this issue, please collect some EA app logs and generate an EA app Error Reporter ID and share the Error ID with us here in the thread.

The EA app logs can be found in C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop\Logs & C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\Logs, please put those logs into a .rar or .zip file and attach them to your report in this thread.

@EA_Leeuw I just reformatted my SSD and reinstalled Windows 10. Still getting this with Anthem. Tried it a month ago as well and got the same thing. Submitted the error report via the EA App like you guided others to do. I've attached the log files compressed as requested. Thanks!

@EA_Leeuwea should fix these problems before release,, some of us know zilch about programing,,, is that what ea expects. tell me, do any of your games run on win7, if so which ones. the app doesn't!

Having the same issue here for BFV. Tried five support tickets for help, no one was able to fix it. 

Submitted an error report, here's my report ID:

Attempted refreshing the cache, reinstalling both the EA App and the game, restarting my desktop, a clean restart, app recover, and many more answers that were supposed to fix it, still cannot start the game. My EA App is up to date.

Please help. I've tried everything from re-installing Anthem, EA APP, Re-installing in different drivers, updating it, clearing cache, etc.
