This fixed it for me:

Go to your task manager -> CTRL + ALT + DELETE and then find your full list of apps (you might only have a couple displayed. Hit the arrows in the bottom left corner to see them all).

Close the EA App if it isn't already.

Find the "EA BACKGROUND SERVICE" app and end the living hell out of that task. This thing continues to run even without you being in the EA App !

but please EA fix this...
