- PandoraTO2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Bluebellflora, thanks for the reply. I thought then that maybe I could get around it by adding the EA app to App Management, but that doesn't work.
Let's just say that when you go from having no irritants (Origin) to having several minor irritants, it doesn't exactly feel like an improvement. 😆 Thanks again! - FreddyFox123412 months agoSeasoned Ace
I've just made the switch to the EA app in the last few days and I have this issue as well. I agree that it's just a minor irritant (the app has been working fine for me), but it would be nice if it could be fixed please!

Hi everyone,
Just for the record: When the “Enable background services” setting is toggled off in your EA app for Mac settings, it is working as intended that on every boot of the client, the macOS prompt to input your macOS username and password pops up.
I hope this clarifies a few things.
Go into Macintosh HD > Users. There should be a root folder in there:
Trash the Library folder.I've tested this and I now don't get prompted for my Mac password every time I open EA App. My game launches normally too 🙂 the folder recreates when you restart your Mac though.
- PandoraTO11 months agoSeasoned Ace@Bluebellflora, I don't have a "root" folder at Macintosh HD > Users. The only folders I have there are "Guest," "[myusername]" and "Shared."
I do have an Origin folder at Library > Application Support > Origin, but it doesn't have an "Installer Data" folder, it has folders called "CatalogCache," "DownloadCache," and "LocalContent," plus a file called "ClientInfo.plist." - @PandoraTO
Ah glad you replied and thanks for tagging me. I’ve edited my post slightly. Interesting you don’t have a root user in Users. Which version of macOS are you running? The folder you reference is different to the one in root. - PandoraTO11 months agoSeasoned Ace@Bluebellflora, yeah, I thought that was odd too, but I think once, a very long time ago, my stepdad screwed up the migration of one of my old Macs to a new one, so now sometimes my folders and applications are not where you'd think they would be. For example, I can't find The Sims 4 application just by going to Applications in the finder; I have to go to Macintosh HD > Users > [myusername] > Applications. And the only applications found there are my EA app and Steam games. All my other applications (including the EA app and Steam) are in the Applications folder in the finder. Weird, eh?
Anyway, I'm running Sonoma 14.2.1. Thanks! I have this problem as well.
I've got "Enable Background Services" turned on, and the EA app still requires my password. The Origin app did the same thing, and no one seems to know exactly how to make it stop.
Its super annoying. I have other users who cant use it because I am admin and I need to always log in with my mac details. What sort of program is this? Its annoying to keep signing in. I paid for sims not for ea
Why does this keep popping up?
- @Bluebellflora thks. it worked.
I was looking for this solution and figured it out.
- In your System Settings, search for "Login Items & Extensions"
- See the section titled "Allow in the Background"
- Next to EA Swiss Sarl, toggle it to ON (right/blue)
Hope this helps!
You are my hero!!!! I’ve been having this issue for ages, and no one has been able to give a solution that worked. This did the trick! Thank you so, so much, kind internet stranger!!!!

CallMeKalamine was already switched on when this started happening about a month ago, I tried toggling it off then back on, no good 😔
Bluebellflora”a minor irritant”? It’s SO ANNOYING! This isn’t something we should just brush off as “it is what it is” 🤦♂️ it’s a problem that needs to be acknowledged and fixed
