Reinstalling a game that is between 50GB and 150GB is NOT a solution whenever you need to apply an update, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Hey @Jdonbay,
Thanks for your feedback. We never mentioned that this is a solution to the issue. But if someone was able to fix their problem themselves by performing a step they, themselves, came up with and it worked, there's isn't much more left for us to do, other than passing on the feedback/issue to the teams so it can be investigated if needed. - DragnortBF3 years agoRising Novice
Hey @EA_Leeuw
Can we expect an official response from those who deal with this error as this situation is still happening to me, been going for 2 hours.
What is the ETA for a fix on this, is it customary for the Dev Team to not test their products when they launch?

Cant update my Battlefield 2042 because of this stupid bug

Same. Got home from work hoping to play the new update. But instead I got extremely frustrated by this dumb issue (and the download speed not working properly as usual with ea stuff) to the point where I just gave up. Thank you EA for ruining my evening. The EA desktop app, in its current state, is insufferable

Hey EA I am now having the same issue. I understand that uninstalling the game and reinstalling may help. This is ridiculous. The EA app takes forever to download and install games even though I have insanely fast internet. You guys need to fix this NAN% issue and you need to fix the issue that makes downloads so damn slow.
- ObiWanCanBluowM3 years agoNot applicable@EA_Leeuw Its been 2 months...is it really that hard? Are you not charging us enough for these games? I just wanna play a game after work not sit Infront of the screen for an hour and a half everytime there's an update because "oh please just reinstall the 40gb game for this 2gb update"

I was having the same issue with an entirely different game, at 99% it starts “applying update” and if i cancel it or try to pause it it cancels the entire install. Scrolling through this thread, it appears it’s safe to assume that their own workers don’t have any idea what they’re doing.
- guabaJuyc33 years agoNot applicable@MrTwoShots use origin, worked for me. have to uninstall ea app first

This is extremely frustating!
I got the same "applying update" forever problem, tried to erase the cache, kill the EA app on the task manager and opene it in administrator mode, even reinstalling the whole BF2042 60Gb game.
When it seemed that would work, I got a "CreateFile failed with 32" error from the EasyAntiCheat!
I got charged $99 yesterday for a year subsription on EA PRO and I've been three hours in front of my computer trying to play!!
Extremely frustating
I will request a refund.

I've been having the same issue with The Sims 4 update since I switched over to the EA app and now my game is unusable because the update never finishes. My biggest regret is switching over from Origin because my games are now useless because of this garbage app.
Since this issue is clearly happening on multiple games when they require updates, do you have any solutions to offer? I've followed the EA advice and cleared the cache, uninstalled/reinstalled the EA app, and run the app as an admin and nothing is working. Is there any way to get this fixed?

that is quite lazy, you should look into it despite if someone found a solution, a solution that is lengthy for those like us who experience a 50gb to 150gb game.

Hey everyone,Thanks for the reports about this issue. To support the EA app teams as they investigate what could be causing this issue, we would like some additional information from you.Could you share the EA app logs & the EA Error Reporter ID with us?The EA app logs can be found in "C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop\Logs" and "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\Logs" (without the quotation marks) and it would be nice if you could put them in a .zip or .rar file and upload them here as a post attachment. Please also generate an EA Error Reporter ID and share this ID here. The EA Error Reporter ID can be generated by clicking on the hamburger menu in the top-left corner > Help > EA Error Reporter. Many thanks in advance! - MirkOMatic3 years agoNot applicable

Hello everyone!
I think I have a possible solution. (BTW this is my first post ever).
My girlfriend wanted to play the Sims 4 with Origin but she had to install the new ea app.
When she was done installing ea, she had to update the Sims. And also she had this same problem with being stuck in applying update. I was trying to help her by understanding the problem.
After a while of searching I find out that if I install Origin back on the PC, the update of the sims runs in the background of Origin when it asks you to install the ea app. (You can see the update process in the left corner). After we waited on the update until it was complete, we saw on the ea app that the Sims was updated and she could play it imminently.
I think the problem is that when Origin is updating a game and you are installing the new ea app at the same time. The update gets corrupted and when you try to continue the update on the new ea app it gives a bug because of the corrupted update of Origin.
I hope it helps you guys!
- razovsky693 years agoNot applicable@Danavk you are correct. by waiting that the game download and finalize on Origin. when coming back on EA I could finally play my game.
Please EA give Danavk a REWARD !!
He saved my day and the one of many other guys. - RipGroove993 years agoSeasoned Ace
Found a working worakround:
I was forced to update to the EA app when I launched Origin yesterday, the 'Update to EA App" splash sceen cannot be closed so you can't use Origin at all so installed the EA App which automatically uninstalled Origin.
Tried to update BF2042 and it just got stuck at 'Applying Update' and showing NaN%
Tried all sorts of things to fix it but it kept happening
So I closed the EA App (Didn't uninstall it), downloaded Origin and logged in, I got the same "Update to EA App" splash screen which still wouldn't close but I could see underneath it that BF2042 was automatically updating so I left it and let it update and closed Origin properly once it was done.
Then I opened the EA App, cancelled the BF2042 download and then just clicked the "Play" button and the game opened and played fine.
So essentially this is a total mess, you can't use Origin properly beacuse the "Update EA" splash screen is in the way and you can't use the EA App to update games

I have the same issues after installing the EA App. See attachments. Thanks!

I too am having issues, I cannot do the whole copy and paste thing to show you my ea stuff as you’ve asked because I don’t know how to, everyone on here is very tech savvy it’s not fair for us who have no clue. After hours I worked out cache ea games, run by administrators, and uninstalling ea. I don’t want to uninstall sims just for it not to work, please fix this problem asap, I’ve spent $$$$ hundreds on this game for it to just not work on the app I was forced to use. I was fine with origin.

Hey everyone,
If you are also experiencing this issue with the EA app, please take a look at the steps that are mentioned in the marked solution of this thread, as the EA app dev teams are actively investigating the issue.
Thanks.
- looney76003 years agoNot applicable
The steps marked as solution don't work how about instead of looking at the solution that doesn't work the bug gets fixed or you give us a refund for amount of time our games remain unplayable because EA has no clue how to release something that works.

I had the same problem (with FIFA 22) and I just found a workaround. Go into the game folder and delete a random file (I literally just chose a small one), than click on the manage button on the game page in the EA App: there should be an option called Repair. Click on that and wait for the process to finish. At the end (the process took a while on my PC since some files had to be downloaded) I was able to play the game without any problem. Hope this helps.
