Thank you so much for this workaround, @MigodaN.

This experience with the EA setup was really maddening as I loath software going were it's not supposed to go.

My hand was forced today to install the app, didn't even let me check if there are still old installs from Origin, just got told to install the app and Origin will be removed, period. @#%%!

To make the install work you also had to first manually create the target folder as the 'change install path' feature didn't allowed to create a new target folder, just choose existing ones. Wow, that's coding from the stone age.

As much as I appreciate the external assistance from a helpful soul, this damn app needs to be fixed. But after I saw how long this POS installer exists without any change and we're talking about EA here, I am not holding my breath.
So I will have to copy&paste the helpful lesson and save it for later when I have to reinstall this on another, new machine.

Thanks once more for your great help to save my game account, well at least those which still run on W10 as EA also sucks in maintenance in that department.

    True. In my opinion, they shouldn't have forced us to switch to this app in its current state which seems to be a beta at best.

    Some of these topics have been open for TWO YEARS and EA hasn't fixed this * app they've forced on us. My issue now is I can't even test your workaround bc the installer swears up and down that I already have the app installed when I know I've erased every inch of it from my PC. Not shockingly the Uninstall.exe in the folder does NOTHING. but i can't even use uninstaller programs to clean this glorified virus from my PC
