This has been an issue for years now. They clearly don't care at all about how people want to organize their gaming software. So I don't buy anything from EA anymore and leave the app uninstalled unless there is a game already in my library I want to play. It's such a simple request, especially considering that it's standard with every other game client in existence... smfh...
Copied comment from User MigodaN7 (this worked for me as well and you can do this for other launchers and apps as well):
Today Origin finally forced me to upgrade to this app and I had the same annoying issue. After some research and fiddling around, I found a way to change the default install path via an command line argument. If anyone want to give it a try:
- Download the installer from the EA page and navigate to the folder where you saved it. The filename should be EAappInstaller.exe.
- Open a PowerShell window (Alt+F+S+R or Shift + right-click in the folder and pick Open PowerShell window here from the menu)
- Use this command (change the quoted path to your liking):
.\EAappInstaller.exe /i DefaultInstallFolder="D:\Games\Electronic Arts"
In this case, the app gets installed in a subfolder called EA Desktop in D:\Games\Electronic Arts. Works fine here so far.
