Re: Error 500 in EA app when trying to play games.

I terminated the EA app AND the EA background service via task manager and everything seems to work. I can launch games again and I don't see the error anymore!

    @valk-valk-01 Good catch.

    I have to do this ALL THE TIME - every time my internet disconnects. The error code is new.

    If you play online games: ANY disconnection while EA app is open (not just while the game is open) requires that you quit the app AND shut down the EA background service to use network play.

    Many times I have booted up BF4 only to need to shut it down and restart a bunch of * apps, simply because I rely on my phone as wired hotspot and I carry my phone with me when I leave the desk.

    No other apps don't have this problem, only EA. Typical. Most hated company in the world for good reason.

    @valk-valk-01 Thank you, this helped. They should still fix it because this is not something I should have to do.

    Thank you! I tried clearing my cache and resetting the app, and this is the only method that worked! I closed the EA app from the task manager prior to this but didn't know there was a background service lol. Thank you!

    This worked for me!! Thank you so much @valk-valk-01, having to restart my PC every time I wanted to play The Sims was getting old.

    Thank you so much! Was completely stuck on this issue, unable to play any of my EA games for several days, and this worked!

    @valk-valk-01 Quick question. When am I supposed to do this? Since I've tried many times at different moments. When the app is open, terminating both those tasks in task manager just closes the app. Terminating them after closing the app does nothing, since they just get active again when you open the app.

    @PlumDutchess Hi, it works for me when the EA app is open. I go to task manager and first terminate the EA app itself, and then terminate the EA app background service. After I've done that I wait a few moments and open the EA app again and then it works!
  • @danelleee Hi! While you have the EA app open, click your Windows key and type in 'task manager' in the search bar and open it. There you will see an overview of all the programs that are up and running on your computer right now. Find the process that's called 'EA', right-click on it and select 'end task'. Then (after scrolling down a bit) find the process called 'EA background service' and again, right-click and select 'end task'. After that, start up the EA app again like you would normally do, and it should work fine now! Hope this works for you, let me know if you have any other problems 🙂

    @valk-valk-01 This helped after a two day pause, what I noticed was that before launching a window appeared with the words "Connecting to EA app", which with dozens of restarts of the application before that did not appear, only when this window appeared - everything worked. The developers of the application must fix this ASAP.

    @PlumDutchess For me it doesn't matter when I terminate the app and backgroundservices. Make sure everything is turned off, and then open your game through a desktop icon rather than opening the app and launching the game from there. That should open the game without the background services block

    My Sims 2 is unclickable, my Sims 3 & 4 are all Error 500. The only way I was able to get my games back was to completely uninstall and reinstall the app, however, when I went to try to uninstall the apps, I encountered an error that prevented me from uninstalling it. I had to go into Task Manager and End Task for ALL EA related apps, only then would it uninstall. Please EA FIX YOUR BROKEN APP! Origin was just fine and you had no reason to change platforms especially to one this broken and unusable. Only saving grace is your tech support call holding music is some of the better elevator music I've heard. I pay so much money for your games, and I can't even play them.

    Here's some advise for you EA: Give your devs more time to fix your problems (and make good content people actually enjoy), stop firing testers that make sure what you put out actually works and stop trying to shoehorn your way into a new thing you never even needed in the first place.

    @valk-valk-01 March 2024, was experiencing this issue, opened task manager and did end task on the EA Background, and reloaded and everything worked, so thank you ! 🙂
