Re: [FIXED] Sims 3 DLC download error, "Something went wrong"

Can't believe they have not disabled new purchases and purposeful selling unplayable games. The people with no respect to copyrights who pirated the game are laughing at us...not only they got the game for free but they can play it when we, the paying customers, cannot. Is this how EA advocates against piracy?

Instead of being proud and appreciative that people still love their game 10 years later they have been ignoring us. I bet EAs creative team is disappointed too. To create a game that players love and have the technical team make it unplayable with their glitchy installer.

I reported this issue a week ago but searching at the forums, I see the same problem coming up again and again since last November...maybe never resolved at all.

And this cannot be too complicated to resolve either. They can roll back to the previous version of the installer that was working or temporarily enable origin or remove the add ons from the base game so they can download as separate games or send us a torrent to directly download them. Noone bothered to press a couple of buttons on their keyboard so we can play the games we paid for.... So sad

@LADYGWYNEVIRE I fully agree. Now, last time I played was about a year ago, and I believe I was still using Origin back then. Would you happen to know when the EA app became mandatory?
  • @DesglacesI found a news release regarding EA App replacing origin dated Oct 2022, but I'm not sure when it became mandatory. I believe it's been less than a year, so looks like I used origin last time I installed all packs without any issues. in the last 10 years, I must have changed/ fixed PCs and installed the packs at least 5 times without any issues.

Reading back EA's statements about EA app, it was supposed to fix the limitations of origin...lol what limitations, origin was working fine....

I used origin for years for sims 3 and nothing like this ever happened. Why did they have to fix what isn’t broken? They should have at least let people use origin until they were sure every game they sell actually works on the ea app.

Edit: another thing I noticed is I can’t even install the Riverview neighborhood in the base game, it says it’s installing but it just never shows up in the game or “installed content” tab in the launcher.

I affected by this too. This is the output from logs I have generated. I have original CDs for my Sims 3 expansions but I did register them with Origin, and even managed to install the game successfully once with the EA app.

However I got some useful snippets from the EADesktop and EABackGroundService logs.

It looks like the the EA app is no longer able to recognise that my expansions are valid against my base game licence.

I have tried just installing a single expansion (the first) but that doesn't work either.
