Hello everyone,

We appreciate your reports regarding the "Your game failed to launch" or "Failed to launch game" error (accompanied by the sub-text "An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later.") that you are encountering on the EA app.

The investigation

To further investigate this issue, we're asking for your assistance in providing the following information on this thread:

With this data, our EA app dev teams can work towards identifying the possible cause(s) of this issue and hopefully reduce its occurrence, or eliminate it altogether.

  • Well, I played from Geforce now, so how could this be my case?

  • I have now uninstalled and reinstalled my game because none of the help recommendations from other players corrected my issue.  After losing all of my progress due to having to reinstall, I went in to play after it finished installing, and it still won't open my game properly.  It acts like it launches, and there is a second EA window with a white screen that should be my game, but you can't click on it.  I have to kill EA in my task manager every time because the EA app also becomes useless.  When I try to open the game from my desktop shortcut it says I am missing two components that are not installed:  MSVCP140.dll is not found, and neither is VCRUNTIME140.dll.  Shouldn't these have been installed with my reinstall???  

    The fact people have been having issues playing Sims4 since 2021 does not give me any hope about EA actually figuring their * out.

    I've made a minor breakthrough: I created a new user account on my computer (Windows 11, upgraded from 10) and logged in to EA games et cetera on there, the programs and games were all still installed. I launched the game, and it actually just worked. There is some difference between my normal account and the account I made to test launching the game. I'm guessing active programs or administrator privileges, the second one doesn't make sense and the first one is frustrating. Not as frustrating as me doing the technical work for a game I paid for though! This is why I'm happy playing 8 year old games and not buying new content.

    So, another funny update. The game launched yesterday, I was even able to play the campaign on my normal account. I had closed all extraneous programs running, and it failed to launch like normal so I gave up, but then a few hours later without changing a single thing, I just tried it out of boredom and it worked, I even played it a bit. Then, this morning, thinking the situation had randomly resolved yesterday, I launched it, and got this entirely new error! I have changed nothing about the game itself this entire time. This is... weird. and frustrating. I'm still never spending money on a new EA game when this is what it's like lol

  • Additional context: After Apex Legends 04/02 broken update I was able to login to see my account progress was wiped out. An update was made to the game and since then I have not been able to launch it.

    Hi, having this error when launching Burnout Paradise from EA app.

    Things to add:

    - the game is called Burnout Paradise in library, but the installer notification is saying "Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box" is ready to play

    - I can't click the game itself in library, all other games I can click (the cursor is changing to hand) and open the game page, but for Burnout Paradise the cursor does not change and the game title nor the image are clickable

    I may have experienced this already on 8th Oct, when I installed the game after a long time, but for sure right now 14th Nov, 9PM CET

  • when i tryin launch simcity ea app writin me "this game requires permissions" after i clickin "OK"

    Cache already cleared maybe 5 times, and other steps were completed

  • Sooo...when can I expect to have this problem solved? I can't play the game I paid for, and it says the issue is on your end.

    Facing the same issue today with Battlefront 2. Yesterday my game was running fine. 
    Here are the required details:
