Re: "low on disk space" or "out of disk space" (EC:10602) error in EA app

Product: The EA app
Platform:PC
Error Report ID (learn how to create an Error Report ID in the sticky post) c9c44cf7-4ba7-481c-acfe-9f0645f9feef
Which client functionality are you experiencing this bug with? Other (Please Describe)
Please describe Updating Game in App
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 27.02.24
Summarize your bug I am unable to update the sims 4 with the most recent patch because when I try, I get an error message saying I have 0 MB of disc space available, which literally isn't true. I have over 10 GB, so there is plenty of room for the new update. I have already cleared the cache and restarted the EA app and nothing has changed. Please fix this so I can actually play the game and then fix the EA app because I have never used an application that has consistently given me this many issues. How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Attempt to update the sims 4 on the EA app
What happens when the bug occurs? An error message pops up saying "You're running low on disk space." and "798 MB disk space required. 0.00 MB available". This message is incorrect because there is enough disk space available on my computer.
What do you expect to see? An update to start on the sims 4 so I can actually play the game that I paid money for

I cleared up some space and it worked, but it still shouldn't have said I had  0.00 MB available because that was never true. Sorry EA for being a little rude in my original post, but to be fair, bugs are frequent with EA products and it was really really difficult to figure out how to get help with this issue. I still wish I could have just spoken to a real person.

I'm having the same problem. I have 1.22 TB of space available, but apparently, that's not enough for the hotfix. I was able to update a couple of days ago, but today, nope. What kind of fix is this that needs more than a terabyte of space?

    Hi everyone,

For the people who continue to experience this issue, despite knowing for sure that you have enough disk space, please provide the following:

    • EA app Error Report ID - Please share this Error ID with us here in the thread.

    • DxDiag of your PCThis will show a more clear picture of the available storage on your system.

    • When sharing this information, please also mention the following:

      • Do you maybe know if you have installed the game(s) that is giving this error on a separate hard drive other than C, like a D drive or an external hard drive for example?

    Thank you.

The game i'm trying to download is 90GB which is star wars battlefront II, but, i'm trying to install it on my external hard drive which is 112.76GB.

Um... Fixed my issue! Just delete the old EA App folder in the following: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop

    Good game guys!

    @LuCkyLuCkK_Yy

    Cause of error (presumably):
The EA App is automatically installed on the C drive, it is not possible to change this in the installer. Presumably, the EA App only checks the free space of the drive it is installed on. Whether the game is already installed or not, if there is not enough space on that drive, it will show this error.

    Solution:
Use PowerShell to install the EA App on a drive that has enough space. (I don't know what "enough" is.) Open PowerShell, then first navigate to the installer folder using the cd path command, where "path" is the full path (e.g. C:\Downloads), then use the code below to install the EA App in a location suitable for you, where there is enough free storage space.
    .\EAappInstaller.exe /i DefaultInstallFolder="D:\Games\EA Games"

    Code Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/origin/comments/11n7p3w/how_do_you_change_install_location_of_the_ea_app/

It solved the problem for me. My C:\ drive was low on space, so I assumed that there must be enough space in the EA App installation location, not the "Install location" set in the EA App.
