Re: [RESOLVED] - Cannot download The Sims 4

Hey all, 

So far we've seen 3 methods work for various players to resolve this issue:

  • Clearing the EA app cache: From the EA app - Help - App Recovery - Clear Cache

  • Running the EA updater in Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

  • "The Nuclear Option"
    • Uninstall The Sims 4 from EA app
    • Copying the files out of Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 (Important: this folder contains your user settings and save files)
    • Clear EA app cache: EA app - Help - App Recovery - Clear Cache
    • Reinstall The Sims 4
    • Copy all files back to the folder from step 2 above.

Please let me know if you still run into issues after these steps.

    @EA_Cade I like the fact that you said "the nuclear option", nevertheless, thank you for being here to help us as well!
  • @EA_Cade So sadly, I've run through all of the options (including the nuclear option.) My game is still not loading up. I've even removed all my cc and tried it again.

    Im so confused.. Ive been able to download it.. but it keeps saying i need to download it again and again.. 

    Once I have restarted the app and laptop it keeps saying I need to download it so clearly still a error.

    This happened to me also - I cleared the cache by clicking the three lines in the top left corner of the EA app > help > app recovery and then clearing the cache. The app restarted and it did let me play then - however I tried this several times and it didn't work the first few times, so not necessarily a fix for the issue :-( Hope you get to play soon! 

  • I have tried these all a couple times ☹️ and still the same issue

    @EA_Cade Hey, some players are still having an issue. I'm not sure if its still being worked on or not, but just wanted to let you know.

    I spoke to EA support earlier because I still can’t download my game (currently says preparing and has done for 20 minutes or more) 🙄.. according to them the issue is still ongoing and they’re still working on it 😒

    I’ll include a screenshot of the email they sent me where it says that it’s still an issue.
