Re: Steam controller support

DS5 controller works perfectly fine with Fallen order, and identified as Xbox controller after enabling the Steam input. Jedi games are not the issue. EA app update is, Because after that update the in-game FPS coutner of Steam disappeared and the DS5 controller does not work with Mass Effect LE, even though Steam is perfectly capable of using the Xbox layout with Steam Input option enabled for the game. In fact it worked so great that I finished all 3 Mass Effects wtih a controller, until EA app update came and bricked everything.

Did u solve the problem (Controller) ?

I got my Steam Controller to work with Mass Effect Legendary Edition by adding the EA app as a non-Steam game. Just make sure that the EA app is completely closed before you try to launch it from Steam and then start ME:LE manually after that, but the Steam overlay and Steam Input work, for me at least, after that. I could not find a way to get launching the game directly to work, not even using stuff like OSOL and GlosSI.

  • Hello. Yeah, I saw such a solution on the interntet, sadly it did not work for me. Add the app to Steam, launch the app through steam, launch ME LE after launching the ea app. Nope, still does not work.

Did you turn off the EA overlay? Sometimes multiple overlays will interfere with each other, and the Steam overlay has to be working in order to have Steam Input function.

  • Hi @figmentPez . I do not remember disabling the ea overlay, but "luckily" that app bugged again and logged me out, so I had the perfect opportunity to double-check this solution.

So I went to the application settings (all of which were disabled by the way, even though I did not do that the last time I launched this bug nest) and made sure that the in-game overlay option is disabled.
I killed the application by exiting and ending the ea background process in the Task Manager and tried adding the ea desktop.exe to Steam as a non-Steam game.
After that I, again, verified that no ea processes were running in the background. I checked that the Steam Input is enabled for Mass Effect LE and then I launched the ea app via Steam, and shortly after that I launched ME LE, again via Steam (not ea app, as it was written in this method that I have found on the net).
Sadly even with the ea overlay being disabled - it did not fix the issue.

P.S. : The Steam overlay was enabled for ME LE during testing.

It is both funny and sad that it would be a lot easier and pleasant to pirate the game and add it to Steam as a non-steam library and it would work with the controller just fine because it would be just Steam doing the translation of the input without ea app that, by the way, now bricks the Steam in-game overlay.

Whoever sees this - know that it was not EA agent's support who helped fixed this issue. Know that is not the ea's engineers work (LOL) that resolved this issue, that people had ever since origin on a random basis. It was a group of enthusiasts that made DS4Windows, I just followed the instructions on installation ME LE is again working with my controller.
