Re: "The EA app timed out" Error even with good internet connection

Hey everyone, 

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing this error. 

Could you please try the following (connection) troubleshooting steps to see if it fixes the error for you?

Basic steps (please click on "Spoiler" to reveal the info)

  • Check for other applications that may be limiting EA app or Game performance,
  • An EA app recovery (Clear Cache),
  • Manually check for EA app updates by running the "EA app Updater" program,
    • Click “Start” (the Windows button) and type the word “EA app Updater” (without the quotes) in the Start search field & open it.

Connection steps (please click on "Spoiler" to reveal the info)

  • Connection and Advance Connection Guides,
  • Untick the options in LAN Settings (make sure nothing is checked under Proxy Server),
  • Change DNS settings (You can use the public Google DNS primary: 8.8.8.8, secondary: 8.8.4.4),
  • Change TCP/IP Settings,
  • Set up a Static IP,
  • Check date/time is correct in Windows,
  • Try a new Windows User Account,
  • Reset Windows Host File,
  • Flush DNS:
    • Click “Start” and type the word “Command” in the Start search field. Finally, right-click the command prompt icon and select the option to “Run as Administrator”,
    • In the open prompt, type “ipconfig /flushdns” (without the quotes), and press the Enter button on your keyboard,
    • You should receive a message of your success as confirmation when the cache is cleared.

  • Windows version and build number (Press Windows keyboard button + R > Type “winver” (without the quotes), and press the Enter button on your keyboard),
  • EA app version (EA app > Top-left Hamburger Menu > About),
  • The region you're from,
  • Date this issue started (is it still happening?)?
  • Other error(s)?
  • IMPORTANT:
  • Please share an EA app Error Report ID. Steps can be found here on how to generate this ID.
    • If you cannot open the EA app, you can still generate an Error Report ID by following the steps mentioned underneath the section called "I can't open the EA app".
  • Please share logs of the EA app, by either creating a .zip or .rar file of them and adding them to your post,
    • The EA app logs can be found in C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop\Logs & C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\Logs.

Note: it also appears that there's a player-found workaround for this issue, that can be found here. However, we would discourage you from performing these steps, so the teams can gather valuable information and hopefully fix the issue for good if it's, in fact, an EA app issue.

None of the requested data contains any PII (Personal Identifiable Information).

If we have this info, we can pass it on to the teams for further investigation.

    Yeeaaa tried all of those and nothing changed 

  • ive asked chat support and they said that lots of other people are facing this issue and are trying to fix it. they said to wait some time and report the bug..

  • You broke my game even more after i followed your steps. I've cleared the cache and now it opens up EA anti cheat and tells me i dont have administrative access and the game still doesn't launch. Why won't your support team reply to my emails after I've given them all the details requested from them? 

    People buy your game to play. You're doing a disservice to your customers by ignoring the email replies, and the fact that a game this expensive doesn't even launch, And troubleshooting is such a hassle, it just shows that you don't bother fixing the issues even one week after these problems came up. 

    I've bought 3 FIFA titles back to back to back, and F23 is the worst run game on Steam. I will not be buying your next title, and I will surely get PES after this.

    I returned my purchase of Titanfall 2 on Steam because of this issue. Please fix the EA App to work with Steam seamlessly, or remove it.

  • I too have requested a refund for Battlefront II from steam because EA crappy launcher times out despite letting 5 different processes through my firewall and connecting to my steam account. Your crappy app says I have to open it through steam but steam just opens your crappy launcher again.

    Last time I am fooled into buying EAs crappy products and services.
    Thank god for steam and their refunds. EAs launcher is utter crap.

  • I have seen complaints about this all the way back to the launch of the EA app. It has been YEARS. None of your suggested fixes work, and I now can't play games that I paid money for because EA is the height of incompetence. Here's a thought, don't make people run their games through you god awful service if you can't figure it out, I bought my games through steam and I still can't play them.

    Hello everyone, today i had the same issue. I was able to solve it by logging onto the EA Website, resetting my EA Password, going to account and connections and linking my steam account to my main EA Account.

    After that i logged into the new EA App which was installed on my laptop, and lunched Battlefield 2042 That way. Cheers. 

    Also needed to make sure my laptop was up to date.

  • As there someone said. Solved. Connect to EA app with correct user. I had wrong. Now it works.
