The Sims 2 Won't Launch from EA App – DirectX 9.0c Error

Today I bought The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, which seems to include both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2. The Sims 1 runs fine, but when I try to launch The Sims 2 from the EA app, I get an error message saying that I need a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and should check if I have the latest drivers from my graphics card manufacturer. And then it says the game will now close and I can only press OK. I currently have DirectX 12. Has anyone solved this?
