Forums practically unusable

I've been an EA customer for... well, I became an EA customer when they bought Maxis. It's been a while.

I've never felt the need to use the forums before Veilguard dropped, so while I'm old to EA I'm new to these forums... which exhibit some very strange behavior. Like, I was in a Veilguard forum and looked at related posts only to find myself suddenly reading a guild invite for a Star Trek themed game.

etc. etc.

I read the new forum info post about many of these outstanding issues, but I wanted to highlight the importance of fixing them for all users, but also on a personal level I'm autistic and sometimes find communicating in places like forums difficult at the best of times (this applies to me. I'm not speaking for everyone with autism).

In the past 48 hours since I registered (maybe even less?), trying to navigate the site has been extremely frustrating. Buttons don't work at all, or links lead to unexpected places... and I have to keep reminding myself I need to double-check everything to make sure I'm even in the relevant game, much less the relevant topic.

This must be very frustrating for all concerned and I know EA is working on it. But EA's support outside these forums is pretty much non-existent as far as I can tell. Which means forums that grow overly confusing and impossible to navigate without a huge sense of frustration and confusion border on an actual accessibility issue for certain groups of people.

It would be great if BioWare would consider prioritizing fixing these forums as such, especially with a major release just dropped that seems to be inspiring a good deal of conversation, including technical issue resolution and the like.

These forums are pretty bad I agree. I was reading a thread in Star Wars GoH and was about to comment but the UI kept reloading some other elements and literally jumping around the screen while I was trying to type. I clicked on something, then the site reported an error. I tried to go back but came to the page with your post on it.

How is it possible to make forums so bad? There were perfect, working forums 20 years ago. Somehow developers have become worse...

    Hi Dangerferret

Glad to hear that you are still playing EA games these days!

Regarding your feedback, I wanted to just stress that we are working on getting these fixed.

Currently, the "related post" widget cannot be scoped to the current area, instead it returns global results.
While we are waiting for an enhancement that will address that, we are planning to re-work the current page templates to remove that widget temporarily.

We also take your comments regarding navigation to heart. We are aware of a number of issues (as highlighted in the forum update post you came across), and we are indeed prioritizing to improve these.

    Thanks again,
    Nils

Thanks for highlighting some pain points.
These are definitely teething issues that are still being worked on.

And yes, sometimes it feels like when there's a new website being released, some of the basic functionality is not working as well as it did on an old websites - but that's because in many cases the software had to be rewritten from scratch.

There may have been problem with that old website at the very start as well, we may just not remember those times.

Websites take time for polish and we will be working on that. Just keep in mind that we only launched a few months ago, meanwhile some of the older websites had years of polish.

We hope that you will keep coming back to check in our progress.
