Some warning signs that an unknown or unauthorised device has connected to your home network are : slow internet speeds that are persistent, particularly when there is not any other factors that could be causing it, such as a lot of other devices attached all working at the same time or bad weather conditions, or a busy time when a lot of people are downloading at the same time.
Another sign is a big surge in the data allowance used, which does not reflect how much data is usually used or the amount of downloading that has been done that day, week or month.
Also there may be unauthorised changes to your router password that are stopping you from accessing the network.
