EA support won't help me.
After a house fire in 2022 and some stupid account tinkering I did in 2023, I wanted to recover my old apex account with 300 odd hours of progress. I chatted in one of the EA help chatboxes for five hours, going round in circles, no result. The Supervisor didn't even seem like he wanted to help me, just threw a link in my direction and called it a day. I'm so angry with EA and how poor they have been handling my issue, considering I am a loyal customer and I pour money into EA games other than apex also. I won't stop trying to recover my old account because it's time and money I have put in and deserve to access.
Hey Emele_420,
Sorry to hear the trouble you're having getting the progress back from an older account. It looks like this may be due to unlinking an earlier Switch account based off the chat you've mentioned. To clarify, progress is stored on the EA account level, not on individual platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Nintendo, etc. Whenever one of these platforms is unlinked from the EA account, there's a chance that can damage the connection as outlined here.
What are the risks?
When you unlink a platform account from your EA Account, you can link it to another EA Account, but your game progress won’t transfer over. That means you’ll permanently lose access to:
- game progress
- DLC, expansions, and anything extra you have for your game
- memberships and subscriptions
- previous drops and other rewards
- in-game purchases.
If you unlink your platform account and link it back to your original EA Account, you may be able to get your stuff back if you can still access the account.
If you unlink a platform account that you use to play Apex Legends, you might have issues with Battle Pass leveling, item unlocks, and other errors.
Since it sounds like you're still using the same EA account at this point, it's likely this aspect of unlinking the original Nintendo account that's caused the loss of progress. The only way to try recovering progress lost due to an unlink would be to re-link the original accounts. That's not a guarantee it could be restored, but that would be the best shot at this point.
To do this, you would need to have access to the first Nintendo account that was originally linked here, not just the one currently linked to the account. If you log into your Switch with that first Nintendo profile before launching Apex, you should see one of two things:
- If you log in with that account and are brought to the lobby normally, you should see your first Nintendo username. That would also mean that Nintendo account has been linked to a different EA account. If you're seeing the current username, it would mean you're logging into the Switch on the new profile instead of the old one.
- If you log in with that account and are prompted to sign into an EA account to continue, that means that first Nintendo account is no longer linked to an EA account. This is what we'd want to see so you can link that first account back to this EA account.
If you aren't able to access that first Nintendo account any longer, I'd try contacting Nintendo support to see if they can assist with recovering that profile. You'll need access to that Nintendo account before we can help get it linked to an EA account. At that point do feel free to resume a case here or create a new one so support can take another look.
