Help With Connecting to Spore

Hey, I've been trying to find a solution to connecting to the Spore servers using my EA account. I purchased the game on Steam and have not been able to login using my EA account, and it usually just states "trouble connecting" or something along those lines. I've also tried numerous times to connect to an advisor, but to no avail.
