Camera Control and Motion Sickness

Can options be included to turn off the camera auto-follow on the player character?

I don't have a history of motion sickness in games, but for some reason I get super nauseous when I am using mouse + keyboard and have to constantly try and correct the camera steering while running around.

I am attributing the nausea to the way that the camera keeps trying to drift back behind the character while using movement keys, especially while I am trying to correct the camera to point in the direction of my choosing with the mouse to compensate for it pulling the camera on its own.

  • I second this request. I'm getting super nauseous for some reason trying to constantly correct the camera when I'm moving around. Usually, on other games, I move the camera around as I'm moving my character, so I can enjoy the visuals/scenery, but in this game the camera is always trying to re-center itself to view whats in front of the characters as its moving. Constantly struggling to move the camera around and fighting the game is giving me intense motion sickness. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to put the game down, and I've only been playing for 38 minutes! ☹️

  • [PS5] The game looks great but yeah, I can only play in small intervals to reduce motion sickness. I can't quite put my finger on the exact issue but something feels "off". Perhaps it's a blur issue.

I haven't had any issues with the camera itself though

  • Wow that's interesting. I didn't try the game cause I get motion sick easily and didn't think I could play it although it looks great.

Hearing that even people who don't have a history of motion sickness get sick, makes me even more sad.

@crinrict I'm still having a lot of fun with the gameplay and story despite it - I never really noticed it during combat since you need to do a lot of shooting and things kinda slow down so there is still hope for sickness-prone players yet.

  • Yeah, I don't get motion sickness with it, but I definitely find the tendency for the mouse to drift back to center annoying. It's not as pronounced if you're always moving the mouse to look around, it's just whenever you stop to look at a certain direction or want to keep it pointed one way, it suddenly starts drifting back to centered behind the character. There are very limited graphics control options, not sure if anything in there is going to help.

  • Hey all - I went into the options menu and lowered the Mouse Sensitivity to 30 and it seemed to help this a lot for me.

In game, press Esc > Options > Controls > Mouse Sensitivity > Lower the setting

30 was low enough for me, might take some trial and error to find a setting that works for you.
