Can’t add friends on origin

My issue isn’t with the game itself. But I wanted to play with my friend, and for some reason I’m not able to add her on origin as a friend and she can’t either. It’s like our usernames don’t exist so we aren’t able to play. The player search thing on origin is terrible and I’m quite disappointed. Cause I tried searching her name, username and email and it didn’t work. Please help us with this issue. We are both on pc using steam for the game
