can't connect with friends on steam - it takes two

@Fdabombe  hi Are you saying you're on PC and your friends on Xbox ?...it's a bit confusing ... it takes two doesn't support cross platform

    I have bought the game and my friend has the friend's pass but it keeps showing him an error saying something about it being restricted. I don't know how to help him with this, any ideas?
