Celestial Dragon is a horrible boss to farm

I get it, you wanted a cool final showdown for the game. And it is cool. For a 1-time singleplayer story experience. It's absolutely horrible for farming. Who designed this? You get CONSTANTLY pushed back, which is taking control away from me, not fun. When solo, the boss constantly faces you and its impossible to get to the tail to cut it (it's insanity that it's not included in the drops at the end of the fight). You don't have enough time to make it to the other side of the arena to do damage to the tail.

When in multiplayer, people in my games ignore the tail completely, which basically makes me the only person trying to do damage to it. It's gotten to the point I just cancel the session so they don't kill the boss before I cut the tail.

It's such a badly designed fight for a monster farming genre. At least if the tail was included in the drop table, or there was some sort of merchant to buy the kemono parts outright.

Right now I am legitimately considering using cheat engine or something to give myself 999 tail parts so I never have to worry about it and just fight the boss normally .

I don't even kill it anymore, just cut the tail and restart. Is that how you wanted people to play, devs?

Oh I forgot to mention broken hitboxes on the tail area. Can't count how many times I rush to the tail to get at least a hit or two, only for them to just phase through the dragon.

well done

  • Right, not to mention the fact the 70% of the time he's on the ground, he still keeps his tail far up in the air. Horrible

  • Willing to actually make a post about this because of how badly designed this boss is. I dont understand the thought behind it. Did the devs even try and farm this monster when they finished the game? Considering all the shortcomings this game has got going against it, bad gameplay design is not one you can afford.

This boss is basically impossible to hit, making this an incredibly annoying fight. Its such a sad take on an otherwise interesting monster. Melee can barely do damage, maybe Claw can, Bow used to be the go to, but the nerf completely shot down any hope of using it well in this fight, maybe cannon if you can get your mortar to hit. And its great how the camera doesnt help 1 bit to see the boss. You cant tell what its gonna do so you just keep chugging potions.  Absolutely no thought into this, just like the previous boss. Which was absolute trash. You make Zorah Magdaros look like the peak of boss making.

Go back to the drawing board, and play your games before you release them. Maybe then you'll know how to actually make one.

I never post on websites or reviews. But this has drove me insane.

    PS

The tail is in the fight rewards, its just rare.
