It Takes Two - "The other player has left the session"

I have It takes two on xbox game pass on pc. My friend have friends pass on steam. Every time he tries to connect, he gets an error: another player has left the session. Is it possible to play through different clients?

    Hey @07islam The error message can happen for a range of reasons. To check can you try joining from their invite?

      If you join via a friend's invitation, the same error occurs.
