When trying to connect through "online play." I can't get in and get the message that "Your account settings has changed. Please connect again now." I just bought the game and set up the link to the EA account to my nintendo account. I tried unlinking and relinking. I tried resetting the time and clearing the cache. I tried using a manual DNS. Nothing has worked so far.
Thank you Patient_Poetry and ThotSlayerKaiYu for giving us a solution that actually works! Since I'm not as well versed in coding and all, I had to tinker around a lil bit.
Here's a more broken down step-by-step that worked for me:
Incredible work and I was able to prove your findings by using Clumsy (network throttling software) on Windows. Thanks again for all your effort and happy than I can finally play this game :)
Recently, my partner and I purchased the Nintendo Switch version of "It Takes Two." Like many others, unfortunately, we immediately encountered the dreaded "Your account settings have changed" error on start and were unable to play the game at all.
Pretty frustrated with the fact that the game could not be returned, I took to the forums and found this incredible post made by Patient_Poetry :
They determined that this error is the result of a weird timing dependency bug on the EA side. Essentially, Nintendo Switch sign-on and authentication occurs faster than the EA server can prepare a game session, resulting in the bug. They found that by adding artificial latency to their Switch's connection, they were able to successfully play the game.
This is why some folks have been able to play via hotspot. The hotspot connections provide enough "natural latency" to give the EA servers time to finish session creation, while wifi does not.
WORKAROUND FOR WINDOWS
I have found and tested a temporary workaround if you have a Windows computer. Essentially, it uses the same logic that Patient_Poetry used in their testing, only we will use a Windows system instead of a Linux system as a network throttling bridge.
You only need this program (it does require you to compile via Zig):
This is a fork of Clumsy, a Windows program that allows you to artificially reduce the quality of your connection. This fork is unique in that it allows you to specifically target the hotspot connections of your Windows device. YOU MUST USE THIS FORK. THE ORIGINAL REPOSITORY DOES NOT TARGET HOTSPOT.
These are my settings. Simply put "true" in the filtering box, and enable lag on outbound requests. I found that 40ms delay gave me a 100% success rate but you may need to tinker with this.
After this program is running, all you need to do is enable the built-in "Mobile Hotspot" feature on Windows and connect. Then you should be off to the races.
All in all, it's definitely not the most elegant or ideal solution and it should be up to EA to fix their backend. But I can attest that for the time being, this fix works for us. Please let me know if anyone else has any luck!
I am making this post at the advice of an EA chat support representative. This post has been made many times already so Im sure y'all know what Im going to say.
I have not been able to use the online play feature of this game on the Switch since I bought it. I am getting the same error message as every other forum post about this.
Error - 105-80190000
I have tried every single troubleshooting method that is on the other post about this as well as additional steps provided by the chat support. No matter what I do it is the same message.
Things I've tried
unlink and relink EA account
Deleted the game and reinstalled
restarted console multiple times
clear cache
reset passwords to both Nintendo account and EA
ensure time was synced with the internet
attempted a mobile hot spot
I attempted all of these steps on both a switch 1 and 2, the same message for both no matter what.
Delete the user from the switch and re log In
Ensured the Nintendo account was not set to child or restricted in any way
attempted to change DNS settings(which I should not have to do even if that worked, it didn't)
Hard reset the switch at the advice of an EA chat representative
and im sure more but because I was working on this for 3+ hours I probably forgot something. I have tried every single option at my disposal.
This process has taken me hours and I still am no closer to being able to play the game. The chat representative I spoke with said this would be "escalated" but I highly doubt that considering this issue has been happening for years. I also can't even get a refund despite not being able to play because it was a digital game card!
EA should be ashamed of how they treat their customers. This issue is borderline false advertising because it is a known issue EA has been aware of for years, yet they are marketing the game as an online multiplayer and actively doing nothing but ignoring customer issues.
I just bought the game so I could play with family we all have Nintendo but live in different states. Getting errors like crazy tried speaking to someone but they always ask are you sure your using a profile connected to ea bro I’m not using someone else’s profile. Please fix the issue we don’t want to keep buying games we can’t even play…
